Esteban Ocon, a French driver for Alpine, has announced his departure from the team at the end of the season following a challenging start to the year in Formula 1. Despite being the only driver to win a race for Alpine since its rebranding from Renault in 2020, Ocon has only managed to score one point this season. His recent crash with teammate Pierre Gasly at the Monaco Grand Prix has resulted in a five-place grid penalty for the upcoming Canadian Grand Prix. Despite the difficulties, Ocon remains grateful to the team for the memorable moments they have shared.

Alpine has yet to announce its drivers for next year, stating that the decision will be made in due course. Ocon, who made his F1 debut in 2016 with Manor, achieved his first and only career win at the Hungarian Grand Prix in 2021. The team had hoped to establish itself as one of the leading teams in Formula 1 but has faced major setbacks this year with a car that has struggled to keep up with the competition. Ocon and Gasly, both French drivers, have only managed one 10th-place finish each this season, leaving Alpine in ninth place out of 10 teams with just two points.

Following Ocon’s announcement, Alpine has undergone a significant shakeup in design and management roles, with several top staff members leaving the team over the last year. As Ocon looks towards the remainder of the season with Alpine, his focus remains on delivering strong performances on track while he prepares to reveal his plans for the future in due course. The driver transfer market in Formula 1 is always a hot topic, with teams and drivers constantly looking to secure the best talent to drive their cars to victory.

Despite the challenges faced by Alpine this season, Ocon’s departure marks a new chapter for the team as they seek to regroup and strengthen their position in the competitive world of Formula 1. As the season progresses, fans will be eager to see how Ocon performs in his remaining races with the team, as well as who Alpine will choose as their drivers for the upcoming season. The Formula 1 landscape is always changing, and Ocon’s exit from Alpine is just one of many moves that will shape the future of the sport in the years to come. Stay tuned for more updates on Ocon’s next steps and Alpine’s plans for the future.
