The UAE is set to mark a significant milestone in the entertainment space with the premiere of the Arabic version of Indian superstar Mammootty’s film Turbo on August 2. Turbo Arabic will be the first Emirati-dubbed Malayalam film to have a theatrical release in the region. Renowned Emirati content creator Ahmad Al Marzooqi was among several locals who dubbed the characters in the film, expressing his excitement to be a part of the project.

Al Marzooqi’s love for Indian films dates back to the release of Khal Nayak in 1993, sparking his interest in Bollywood. He is known as the “Bollywood Wikipedia” for his extensive knowledge of Indian films without subtitles. Al Marzooqi found dubbing for Turbo Arabic relatively easy due to his experience in voice-overs for his own channel. He was appreciated for his performance and even assigned additional characters to voice.

The success of Turbo Arabic means a lot to Al Marzooqi as it opens doors for more talented Emirati youth in the entertainment industry. With 17 voice artists, including 11 young Emirati talents, the project aims to empower local talent in the entertainment industry. Two Emirati girls, Noora and Mariam Al Helali, along with Rebin Areef, Marketing Head at Truth Global Films, spearheaded this project and brought it to life in just three weeks.

Noora and Mariam Al Helali found dubbing for the film easy as Malayalam speakers, completing their scenes in just three days. The presence of popular Dubai-based content creator Ahmad Salah, who voices Mammootty in the film, adds to the star-studded cast. Directed by Vysakh, Turbo follows the story of Turbo Jose, a jeep driver known for his sense of justice and loyalty, as he helps his friend Jerry navigate through a difficult situation on his wedding day.

The project demonstrates a strong commitment to promoting local talent in the entertainment industry both nationally and internationally. With the successful production of Turbo Arabic, there is hope for more opportunities in dubbing Indian and other films in the future. The film’s unique storyline and star-studded cast are set to captivate audiences in the UAE and beyond, setting a new standard in the entertainment space. Don’t miss the premiere of Turbo Arabic in UAE cinemas on August 2.
