Ensuring the Rights of People with Disabilities is Qatar’s Top Priority: Al Shafallah Executive Director

Maryam Saif Al Suwaidi, the Executive Director of Al Shafallah Center for Persons with Disabilities in Doha, Qatar, emphasizes that protecting the rights of people with disabilities is a top priority for the State of Qatar. In a recent graduation ceremony, she highlighted the country’s efforts to integrate the needs of individuals with disabilities into all policies and programs. The State of Qatar is committed to supporting and empowering individuals with disabilities as part of the Qatar National Vision 2030. Al Suwaidi urged graduates to continue their hard work and contribute positively to national development, while praising the Ministry of Social Development and Family for their support of people with disabilities.

At the graduation ceremony, Al Suwaidi also praised the parents of the graduates for their support and cooperation with the center. She commended their determination and highlighted their children’s achievements. Additionally, she expressed pride in the efforts of the graduates and encouraged them to fully integrate into society. The ‘Infinity Love’ sculpture, presented by Qatar Museums to Al Shafallah Centre, symbolizes the commitment and support of HH Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, the Chairperson of the Education Above All (EAA) Foundation, towards the center’s mission.

The ‘Infinity Love’ sculpture, inaugurated by the Prime Minister of Qatar, is a tribute to HH Sheikha Moza bint Nasser for her 25 years of dedication to supporting individuals with disabilities. This gesture reflects the ongoing commitment of Qatar Museums to supporting Al Shafallah Center and contributing to its anniversary celebrations. The sculpture, which symbolizes eternal love and support, serves as a reminder of the importance of inclusion and empowerment for individuals with disabilities. Al Suwaidi thanked Qatar Museums for their collaboration and support in creating this meaningful artwork.

Established by HH Sheikha Moza bint Nasser in 1999, Al Shafallah Center for Persons with Disabilities provides essential services for individuals with mental disabilities and autism. The center’s mission is to offer specialized education and training, raise awareness about disability rights, and promote integration into society. Affiliated with the Qatar Foundation for Social Work, the center operates under the guidance of the Ministry of Social Development and Family. Through its programs and initiatives, Al Shafallah Center continues to champion the rights and well-being of individuals with disabilities in Qatar.
