England white-ball captain Jos Buttler will be missing the upcoming three-match Twenty20 series against Australia due to a right calf injury. As a result, Phil Salt will be leading the side in Buttler’s absence, according to the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB). Although Buttler has been named in the squad for the upcoming five-match One-Day International (ODI) series against Australia, his participation remains uncertain due to the injury. Allrounder Jamie Overton, who recently made his Test debut in 2022, will be replacing Buttler in the T20 squad. Additionally, uncapped Jordan Cox has been included in the ODI squad as cover, after previously being called up for the T20 squad.

The T20 series is scheduled to take place between September 11-15, while the ODI series will follow from September 19-29. The England T20 squad includes players such as Phil Salt, Jofra Archer Jacob Bethell, Brydon Carse, Jordan Cox, Sam Curran, and others. On the other hand, the England ODI squad comprises players like Jos Buttler, Jofra Archer, Gus Atkinson, Harry Brook, Ben Duckett, Matthew Potts, and others. The absence of Buttler in the T20 series will be a significant blow to England, as he is the white-ball captain and a key player in the team. However, this provides an opportunity for other players to step up and make their mark in the upcoming series against Australia.

Despite Buttler’s absence, the England team will be looking to put up a strong performance against Australia in both the T20 and ODI series. Phil Salt, who will be leading the side in Buttler’s absence, will have a crucial role to play as the stand-in captain. Players like Jofra Archer, Sam Curran, Liam Livingstone, and Adil Rashid will also be key figures in the team’s performances. With Australia being a strong opponent, England will need to be at their best to secure victories in the upcoming matches. The team will be aiming to build momentum and confidence for the upcoming T20 and ODI fixtures.

The inclusion of Jamie Overton and Jordan Cox in the T20 and ODI squads respectively provides an opportunity for these players to showcase their talent at the international level. Overton, who made his Test debut recently, will be looking to make an impact in the T20 series against Australia. On the other hand, Cox, who is uncapped, will be eager to prove himself in the ODI series if given the opportunity. Both players will be looking to make the most of their chances and contribute to the team’s success in the upcoming matches. The England team management will be hoping for strong performances from all players to overcome the challenge posed by Australia.

In conclusion, Jos Buttler’s absence from the upcoming T20 series against Australia due to a calf injury is a setback for the England team. However, this provides an opportunity for other players to step up and fill the void left by Buttler. Phil Salt will be leading the side in Buttler’s absence, and players like Jamie Overton and Jordan Cox have been included in the squads as replacements. The England team will be looking to put up strong performances in both the T20 and ODI series against Australia, with key players like Jofra Archer and Sam Curran expected to play crucial roles. The upcoming series against Australia will be a test for the England team, and they will be aiming to start the season on a positive note with victories in both formats of the game.
