England captain Jos Buttler has left the squad to be with his wife, who is about to give birth to their third child. Despite his absence, he led England to victory in the rain-affected four-game series against Pakistan. Vice-captain Moeen Ali is likely to lead England in the upcoming T20 match in Cardiff. Ben Duckett or Will Jacks could replace Buttler in the batting lineup for the game.

Jacks, who recently returned from the Indian Premier League, could open alongside Phil Salt in Buttler’s absence. The series against Pakistan is serving as a warm-up for the upcoming T20 World Cup, with England looking to defend their title. Fast bowler Jofra Archer may be rested for the Cardiff match, with Mark Wood being a potential replacement. Archer had a successful return to international cricket after a long injury layoff.

Jacks praised Archer’s performance and highlighted his importance to the team. The Sussex paceman’s return to the squad has been well-received by fans and players alike. England will face Scotland in their opening match of the T20 World Cup, with the series against Pakistan providing valuable preparation. The team is looking to fine-tune their squad ahead of the tournament in the Caribbean and the United States.

The absence of Buttler will be a blow to the team, but Ali is ready to step up and lead England in his absence. Jacks and Salt have a good understanding of each other’s games, having played together in franchise cricket. The upcoming matches against Pakistan will allow England to assess their options and make any necessary changes ahead of the World Cup. Overall, the team is focused on defending their title and putting in strong performances in the series against Pakistan.
