Emirates is urging travellers to plan ahead as the airline anticipates a surge in passengers at Dubai International Airport during the upcoming festive season. The airline is advising customers to factor in heavier road congestion, fuller car parks, and longer processing times.
To avoid delays, Emirates recommends that passengers arrive at the airport at least three hours before their scheduled departure time, complete immigration formalities at least 90 minutes prior to take-off, and be at the boarding gate one hour ahead of the scheduled departure time.
Streamlining the Travel Experience with Digital Tools
To ease the pressure on airport facilities, Emirates is encouraging customers to utilize its digital tools. The Emirates app allows passengers to check in 48 hours before departure, retrieve their digital boarding passes, and register for biometric processing. This enables travellers to access smart gates and expedite their movement through check-in, gates, and lounges.
Additionally, online check-in is available on Emirates.com 48 hours prior to departure, providing passengers with more flexibility and time to manage their travel arrangements. By leveraging these digital tools, travellers can minimize their wait times and enjoy a smoother airport experience.
Alternative Check-in Options
Emirates offers city check-in facilities as an alternative to traditional airport check-in. The Emirates City Check In and Travel Store at DIFC allows customers to check in and drop off their luggage between 24 and 4 hours before their scheduled departure time. This service also includes complimentary parking, making it a convenient option for travellers.
Furthermore, passengers can take advantage of the Emirates City Check In Ajman, which operates 24 hours a day. This facility enables early check-in and baggage drop, reducing the need to visit the airport during peak hours. As an added incentive, customers who check in at the DIFC facility between December 15 and January 15 will receive 2,500 Skywards Miles each, including children.
Enhanced Baggage Services
Travellers departing from Dubai can benefit from the airline’s overnight bag drop service, which allows them to drop off their luggage at the airport the day before their flight at no additional charge. This service helps alleviate congestion on the day of travel and provides passengers with more time to relax before their journey.
Emirates also offers a Home Check In service, where the airline’s agents complete check-in at the passenger’s preferred location, whether it be their home, hotel, or office, and collect their baggage for transport to the airport. This complimentary service is available to First Class passengers and Platinum Skywards members.
Important Baggage Restrictions
As passengers prepare for their travels, Emirates reminds them to familiarize themselves with the airline’s baggage restrictions. Only one power bank with a capacity under 100 watt hours is permitted per passenger and must be carried in the cabin. Smart bags are allowed provided their batteries are removable, and e-cigarettes and similar devices must be carried on board and protected against accidental activation.
With millions of travellers expected to pass through Dubai International Airport in the coming weeks, Emirates emphasizes the importance of preparation and early planning to navigate the festive rush successfully. By utilizing the airline’s digital tools, alternative check-in options, and enhanced baggage services, passengers can enjoy a more streamlined and stress-free travel experience.
As the festive season approaches, travellers should remain informed about the latest travel guidelines and plan accordingly to ensure a smooth journey. The next few weeks are expected to be busy, and Emirates will continue to monitor the situation and adjust its services as needed.
