Doha, Qatar – The Ministry of Endowments (Awqaf) and Islamic Affairs has announced the upcoming electronic selection process for Hajj pilgrims from Qatar for the 1447 AH season, beginning December 2, 2025. This process aims to ensure a transparent and efficient system for selecting pilgrims and providing them with necessary services. Approximately 4,400 Qatari citizens will be eligible to perform the pilgrimage this year, according to the ministry.

Advance Payment and Operator SelectionSupport and Quota Allocation

The electronic selection will involve sending SMS notifications to shortlisted applicants, directing them to finalize registration with one of 24 accredited Hajj operators through the official website, www.hajj.gov.qa. Applicants must complete registration within seven days of receiving the SMS to avoid cancellation of their approval.

Streamlining the Hajj Pilgrimage Selection Process

This year’s selection process represents a continuation of efforts to modernize and improve the experience for Qatari pilgrims. According to Awqaf, the electronic system is designed to facilitate service delivery and maintain transparency throughout the selection and registration phases. The ministry emphasized the importance of adhering to deadlines to ensure smooth organizational arrangements for the pilgrimage.

Advance Payment and Operator Selection

A key component of the registration process is an advance payment of QAR 10,000. The ministry clarified that this is not a registration fee, but rather a partial payment towards the total Hajj cost, which varies depending on the services offered by each operator. Pilgrims will also sign an electronic contract to formally choose their preferred operator through the online system.

This advance payment requirement is intended to ensure serious intent from applicants and allow operators to finalize contracts and logistical plans in a timely manner. Awqaf encourages pilgrims to carefully compare prices and services – including accommodation, hospitality, and transportation – offered by different operators to make informed decisions.

Additionally, Awqaf has implemented an upgraded online payment mechanism to simplify the payment process for pilgrims. This allows for convenient and flexible payment options based on the pricing structures of each individual operator. This upgrade is expected to enhance the overall quality of services provided.

Support and Quota Allocation

For any questions or concerns, pilgrims can contact the dedicated hotline at 132 for assistance. The ministry has allocated a quota of 4,400 pilgrims for the Hajj season, and the electronic selection process is being conducted in full compliance with this quota and established standards. The ministry is working closely with the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah in Saudi Arabia to ensure a successful pilgrimage season.

Meanwhile, the early opening of registration builds on the success of the previous two seasons, enabling operators to finalize contracts and provide high-quality services. This proactive approach aims to create a streamlined and spiritually fulfilling experience for Qatari pilgrims. The ministry is focused on providing top-notch amenities and services to facilitate a peaceful and devout pilgrimage experience.

The implementation of these procedures reflects a broader effort to enhance the overall Umrah and Hajj experience for Qatari citizens. The ministry continues to collaborate with Saudi authorities to address logistical challenges and ensure the safety and well-being of pilgrims.

Looking ahead, the ministry will monitor the registration process closely and address any issues that may arise. The deadline for completing registration after receiving an SMS notification is critical, and pilgrims are urged to adhere to it. Further updates regarding the Hajj season and any potential changes to procedures will be announced by the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs in the coming months.
