The Ministry of Agricultural, Fisheries and Water Resources (MAFWR) in Muscat has announced the cessation of work at the Central Wholesale Fish Market during the Eid holiday period. In an official announcement, the ministry stated that work at the market will be suspended for four days starting from Sunday, June 16, 2024, until Wednesday, June 19, 2024. Work will resume on Thursday, June 20, 2024. During this period, exporters will be able to directly export fish species that are allowed to be exported by percentage. However, exports of prohibited species will be prevented in accordance with Ministerial Resolution No. (75/2019) that regulates the Sultanate of Oman exports of fish.

The Ministry’s decision to suspend work at the Central Wholesale Fish Market during the Eid holiday period aims to ensure that exporters comply with regulations regarding the export of fish species. This includes adhering to requirements for weight and value of fish as stipulated in the Ministerial Resolution. The suspension of work is also in line with ensuring that exporters follow guidelines set forth by the Sultanate of Oman to prevent the export of prohibited species. By implementing these measures, the Ministry aims to maintain the integrity of the fish export industry and protect the marine ecosystem.

Exporters in Muscat are encouraged to make necessary arrangements to comply with the regulations set by the Ministry during the Eid holiday period. Those looking to export fish species must ensure they are within the allowable percentage for export and meet the requirements for weight and value as outlined in Ministerial Resolution No. (75/2019). By following these guidelines, exporters can avoid penalties and contribute to the sustainability of the fish export industry in the Sultanate of Oman.

The Central Wholesale Fish Market in Muscat plays a crucial role in facilitating the trade of fish species and ensuring compliance with regulations governing the export of fish. By temporarily suspending work during the Eid holiday period, the Ministry is providing exporters with an opportunity to make necessary preparations and adjustments to comply with regulations. This proactive approach is essential for maintaining the integrity of the fish export industry and safeguarding the marine ecosystem in the Sultanate of Oman.

In conclusion, the Ministry of Agricultural, Fisheries and Water Resources in Muscat has announced the cessation of work at the Central Wholesale Fish Market during the Eid holiday period to allow exporters to comply with regulations regarding the export of fish species. By adhering to requirements for weight and value of fish species as outlined in Ministerial Resolution No. (75/2019), exporters can contribute to the sustainability of the fish export industry in the Sultanate of Oman. Exporters are encouraged to make necessary arrangements and adjustments to ensure compliance with regulations during the Eid holiday period.
