EGF praises UAE women for their excellent performance at the Pan Arab Golf Championships

The Emirates Golf Federation (EGF) recently praised the UAE girls’ teams for their outstanding performance at the 54-hole Pan Arab Ladies’ and Youth Golf Championships in Tunisia. The teams collectively secured an impressive seven medals, showcasing their dominance in the competition. The UAE Under-16 Girls’ team, comprised of Anca Mateiu, Aasiya Saleem, and Sara Abubaker, excelled in both the Individual and Team events, claiming the top spots in the competition.

Anca Mateiu emerged as a standout performer, clinching the Individual Gold with strong rounds of 66, 66, and 70. Her remarkable performance led the team to secure the Team Gold as well. Aasiya Saleem and Sara Abubaker also showcased their skills, securing the second and third positions in the Individual event, highlighting the depth of talent within the UAE girls’ teams. The EGF Vice-Chairman, General Abdullah Alhashmi, expressed his delight at the exceptional performances of the UAE teams and emphasized the significance of their achievements at the tournament.

The success of the UAE girls’ teams reflects the EGF’s commitment to the development of women’s golf in the region. General Alhashmi applauded the players and the support team for their hard work and dedication, which contributed to the remarkable results at the championship. The EGF aims to encourage more women to take up golf and continue to excel in the sport, building on the success of the UAE girls’ teams. The federation’s focus on nurturing talent and promoting participation among female golfers has paved the way for a brighter future for women’s golf in the UAE.

Anca Mateiu, the Individual Gold medalist, expressed her joy at the team’s success and acknowledged the support they received from the EGF and the UAE support team. She credited her teammates, Aasiya and Sara, for their contribution to the Team Gold win, highlighting the camaraderie and teamwork among the players. Despite facing unfamiliar weather conditions in Tunisia, the UAE girls’ teams enjoyed their experience at the championship and embraced the challenges that came their way.

The UAE Ladies’ Team also put up a commendable performance at the Pan Arab Ladies’ and Youth Golf Championships, with Intissar Rich finishing as the runner-up in the Ladies’ Division. The team secured the silver medal in the Team event, further showcasing the talent and potential of female golfers in the UAE. The competition provided a platform for the players to test their skills against counterparts from other Arab nations, underscoring the growth of golf in the Middle East region, especially among female players.

Looking ahead, the focus now shifts to the Boys’ divisions, with the Under-18 and Under-16 tournaments scheduled to take place in Tunisia. The EGF is optimistic about the performance of the UAE Boys’ Teams, comprising talented young golfers who are ready to showcase their skills on the international stage. With the support of the EGF and the coaching staff, the players are geared up to compete against the best golfers in the Arab world and continue the legacy of success set by the UAE girls’ teams.
