Minister of Education and Higher Education H E Buthaina bint Ali Al Jabr Al Nuaimi recently inaugurated the seventh edition of the Visual Arts Innovators Exhibition in Doha, Qatar. The event, held in partnership with Msheireb Museums, focuses on the theme of “Art Reflecting Change Towards Sustainability” and showcases 450 artworks created by students, teachers, and visual arts supervisors from various schools. The Minister praised the students’ creativity and commitment to environmental issues, highlighting the importance of promoting art as a tool for community awareness.

During her visit to the exhibition at Bin Jelmood House in Msheireb, the Minister listened to presentations from participating students and teachers, acknowledging the role of the Visual Arts Innovators Exhibition in showcasing the talents of students and educators. Assistant Undersecretary for Educational Affairs, Maha Al Ruwaili, emphasized the Ministry’s vision of using art to enhance community awareness, particularly in relation to sustainability, as a crucial aspect of future development.

General Manager of Msheireb Museums, Abdulla Al Naama, expressed pride in hosting the exhibition, noting that it aligns with the museum’s mission of promoting community dialogue, research, and creativity. He highlighted Bin Jelmood House as a unique heritage venue that embodies the museum’s narrative approach to curation, emphasizing the importance of fostering dialogue and discussion on contemporary social issues.

The Visual Arts and Theater Department at the Ministry of Education and Higher Education supervises the exhibition, which aims to raise awareness of sustainability through art and address environmental and social concerns creatively. In addition to the showcased artworks, the exhibition includes a special art symposium scheduled for November 7 and a series of art training workshops led by experts in the arts, education, and sustainability. These activities contribute to the ongoing research project on the role of cultural institutions in promoting community dialogue and sustainable education.

Overall, the Visual Arts Innovators Exhibition serves as a platform for students and teachers to showcase their artistic talents and address pressing environmental and social issues through creative expression. It underscores the Ministry’s commitment to leveraging art as a means to raise awareness and promote sustainable practices within the community. Through partnerships with institutions like Msheireb Museums, the exhibition fosters dialogue, research, and creativity, contributing to a more informed and engaged society.
