Eddie Murphy returns as the iconic character Axel Foley in the new Netflix film, Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F. The film follows Foley as he returns to Beverly Hills to protect his daughter Jane, a public defender who uncovers corruption within the police department. The premiere of the film, attended by original cast members Judge Reinhold and John Ashton, took place near the Beverly Hills Police Department, adding to the nostalgia of the iconic series.

Murphy recalls the humble beginnings of the original Beverly Hills Cop film, which despite a rocky start, went on to become a massive success, grossing over $300 million worldwide. The film became a beloved part of pop culture in the 80s, with two successful sequels following in 1987 and 1994. Actor Paul Reiser, who reprises his role in the new film, describes the original movie as comfort food, something that people grew up on and have fond memories of.

Director Mark Molloy aimed to capture the essence of the 1980s in the new film, drawing inspiration from the original Beverly Hills Cop movies. He wanted to create a nostalgic yet contemporary film that paid homage to the beloved series. The film also stars Kevin Bacon as a senior cop and Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Foley’s new sidekick, adding to the star-studded cast.

Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F begins streaming on July 3, and Murphy is excited for audiences to see the film. He expresses his satisfaction with how the movie turned out and believes that it will resonate well with fans of the original series. The film promises to deliver the same action-packed excitement and humor that made the original Beverly Hills Cop movies so popular.

Overall, fans of the Beverly Hills Cop series can look forward to a nostalgic trip down memory lane with Eddie Murphy reprising his role as Axel Foley in the new Netflix film. With a star-studded cast, an exciting storyline, and a touch of 80s nostalgia, Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F is set to be a must-watch for fans of the iconic franchise. Don’t miss out on the action and humor as Axel Foley takes on a new investigation to protect his daughter and uncover corruption in Beverly Hills.
