Doha, Qatar: The Education Above All Foundation (EAA) has achieved a major milestone in supporting the graduation of 120 outstanding students out of 316 scholarship recipients at the American University of Beirut (AUB) through its Qatar Scholarships – EAA Programme. This initiative, in partnership with Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD), aims to provide high-quality education to marginalized communities in alignment with the United Nations Sustainable Goal 4. The diverse cohort of graduates, representing various backgrounds and specialties, was honored in a ceremony attended by prominent figures, including AUB President Fadlo Khuri and representatives from EAA and QFFD.

The recipients of the EAA Qatar Scholarship Programme come from Lebanon, Syria, and Palestine, with the majority facing economic instability and challenges in accessing education. The programme seeks to address these obstacles by investing in education infrastructure and ensuring equitable access to education for all students. Talal Al-Hathal, Director of Al Fakhoora Programme, praised the graduates for their achievements and emphasized the importance of equipping oneself with the skills necessary to navigate life’s complexities.

Sultan Al-Aseeri, Acting Director General at Qatar Fund for Development, highlighted the organization’s commitment to promoting sustainable development and social justice through education. He emphasized that education is crucial for empowering individuals and creating opportunities for sustainable growth. Professor Joseph Costantine, director of the Qatar Scholarship Program, introduced the Ace Talks competition, which aims to cultivate public speaking, writing, presenting, and creative thinking skills among students. He also announced the launch of a study abroad program in collaboration with EAA and Qatar Foundation.

The graduation ceremony at AUB not only celebrated the academic achievements of the students but also highlighted the impact of the Qatar Scholarships – EAA Programme in providing opportunities for Lebanese, Syrian, and Palestinian youth to pursue their academic dreams. The programme’s success underscores the importance of investing in education as a means of empowering individuals and building resilient communities. The collaboration between EAA, QFFD, and AUB demonstrates a commitment to creating a more inclusive and equitable educational environment for students from diverse backgrounds.

As the graduates embark on the next chapter of their lives, they carry with them the knowledge, skills, and experiences gained through the Qatar Scholarships – EAA Programme. Through their achievements, they serve as role models for other students facing similar challenges and demonstrate the transformative power of education in breaking down barriers and creating opportunities for personal and professional growth. The support provided by EAA, QFFD, and AUB highlights the importance of collaboration in advancing the goals of sustainable development and social justice through education.
