The opening of night beaches in Dubai has been a welcomed relief for residents seeking respite from the scorching summer temperatures. Last year, the Dubai Municipality announced the launch of three new night swimming beaches in Jumeirah 2, Jumeirah 3, and Umm Suqeim 1. One such resident, Rechel Hoco, a content creator from the Philippines, has found solace in night swimming with her siblings. The serene, quiet, and calming atmosphere of the beaches provides the perfect environment for unwinding after a long day.

Rechel, who has been living in Dubai for 1.5 years, appreciates the convenience of night swimming as it fits well with her work schedule. The 3800-metre-long night beaches are equipped with bright lighting systems to aid lifeguards in monitoring the swimmers. Safety is a top priority, with electronic screens displaying safety messages to increase awareness among beachgoers. Rechel describes her night swimming experience as truly enjoyable, citing the warm water and calm waves as ideal for relaxation and de-stressing.

Similarly, Mazen, a 25-year-old Emirati, has switched to night swimming due to the extreme daytime heat and risk of dehydration. He finds the bright lighting and lifeguard presence at the night beaches reassuring, allowing him to swim without worrying about crowds or heat. It has become a habit for Mazen, who sometimes visits the beaches in the middle of the week for a refreshing swim. French expat Nadia Aubert, on the other hand, enjoys the night beaches late at night, finding solace in the peaceful and serene environment. Night swimming helps her unwind, recharge, and disconnect from the busy city life.

The night beaches in Dubai offer a safe, convenient, and peaceful experience for residents looking to escape the summer heat. With the support of the Dubai Municipality, beachgoers like Rechel, Mazen, and Nadia can enjoy a rejuvenating swim in the warm waters under the bright lights. The popularity of night swimming is on the rise, with more residents opting for this cooling and calming activity during the hot summer months. As the demand for night beaches continues to grow, the authorities are likely to expand and improve these night swimming facilities to accommodate more residents seeking refuge from the daytime heat.
