Dubai Police organized the ‘An Hour for Dubai’ initiative, where more than 200 volunteers, including people of determination and senior citizens, joined forces to clean the streets of Dubai after heavy rain caused dirt and waste to accumulate. The initiative lasted for 10 days and aimed to restore the cleanliness and safety of public spaces in the city. Volunteers, including Dubai Police employees and community members, worked together to clear debris and waste from the streets and ensure that the neighborhoods were back to their pre-rain condition.

Brigadier Majid Al Suwaidi, director of Al Barsha Police Station, highlighted the importance of community collaboration during and after extreme weather conditions. He emphasized the role of citizens and residents in coming together to assist those affected by the recent fluctuations in weather. The ‘An Hour for Dubai’ initiative was launched to clean the roads and streets within Al Barsha’s jurisdiction, reflecting the station’s commitment to community responsibility.

Ahmad Qambar, a person of determination and an employee at Al Barsha Police Station, shared his experience participating in the initiative. Volunteer teams were formed and distributed to specific points in Al Barsha 1 and Al Barsha 2 areas, with cooperation from Al Sadaf Decoration Company and Al Yousuf Company to complete the cleaning operations. Additionally, collaboration with Al Barsha Ferjan ensured the delivery of meals and supplies to those in need, especially individuals who were unable to reach stores due to rainwater accumulations.

The ‘An Hour for Dubai’ initiative received positive feedback from the community, with volunteers expressing their pride in contributing to the cleanliness and safety of public spaces in Dubai. The collaboration between Dubai Police, volunteers, and local businesses demonstrated the power of unity in times of need, emphasizing the importance of community involvement in maintaining a clean and safe environment for all residents. By coming together to address the aftermath of extreme weather events, individuals showcased their dedication to serving the community and supporting those in need.

As Brigadier Majid Al Suwaidi mentioned, the success of the initiative was a result of citizens and residents joining forces with official entities to mitigate the damage caused by the recent weather fluctuations. Through their collective efforts, volunteers were able to make a significant impact on improving the cleanliness and safety of the streets and neighborhoods in Dubai. Moving forward, initiatives like ‘An Hour for Dubai’ serve as a reminder of the importance of community engagement and collaboration in addressing challenges and working towards a cleaner and safer environment for all residents.
