The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) in Dubai has successfully reduced travel time in school zones by 15 to 20 percent through major road improvements for a total of 37 schools. The improvements included widening streets, creating additional parking spaces, improving school entrances and exits, and implementing traffic diversions in surrounding areas. Additionally, the RTA paved parking spaces in front of schools and designated specific areas for safe pick-up and drop-off of students. These improvements were part of a broader strategy to enhance road network efficiency in school areas and align with the city’s ongoing urban development.

According to the RTA, these improvements aimed to serve road users such as teaching staff, bus drivers, and students’ families while ensuring the safety of all road users in Dubai. The completed works targeted key areas including Kings’ School Dubai, The International School of Choueifat, Dubai College, Al Safa Schools Complex, School of Research Science, Al Qusais Schools Complex, Al Mizhar Schools Complex, Nad Al Sheba Schools Complex, and Al Tawar Schools Complex 2. Hussain Al Banna, CEO of the Traffic and Roads Agency at RTA, stated that the traffic improvements have not only enhanced the road network but also upheld the quality and efficiency of Dubai’s infrastructure, reflecting RTA’s commitment to meeting the needs of the expanding population and urban development in the city.

The RTA’s efforts to reduce travel time in school zones through road improvements have been successful, with a significant decrease in travel time experienced by drivers in Dubai. These improvements have not only enhanced the road network but also contributed to the overall goal of improving traffic flow and safety in school areas. By widening streets, creating additional parking spaces, and improving school entrances and exits, the RTA has made significant progress in improving the efficiency and safety of school zones in the city.

In addition to the physical improvements made to school zones, the RTA has also implemented traffic diversions in surrounding areas to further enhance road network efficiency. By designating specific areas for safe pick-up and drop-off of students, the authority has prioritized the safety of pedestrians and road users in school zones. These measures align with the broader strategy to enhance road network efficiency and ensure the safety of all road users in Dubai.

The completion of works at key areas such as Kings’ School Dubai, The International School of Choueifat, and Al Safa Schools Complex, among others, demonstrates the RTA’s commitment to fulfilling leadership directives and meeting the needs of Dubai’s expanding population. These improvements reflect the authority’s dedication to enhancing the quality and efficiency of Dubai’s infrastructure while supporting the city’s ongoing urban development. The RTA’s focus on improving road network efficiency in school areas will continue to benefit road users, teaching staff, bus drivers, and students’ families, ensuring a safe and smooth travel experience in Dubai.

In conclusion, the RTA’s road improvements in school zones have significantly reduced travel time and enhanced road network efficiency in Dubai. By widening streets, creating additional parking spaces, and implementing traffic diversions, the authority has improved traffic flow and safety in school areas. These improvements align with the broader strategy to enhance road network efficiency and reflect the RTA’s commitment to meeting the needs of the expanding population and urban development in the city. With a focus on safety and efficiency, the RTA continues to prioritize the well-being of road users in school zones, ensuring a smooth and secure travel experience for all.
