Dubai Mall has announced that starting from July 1, parking fees will be deducted directly from Salik user accounts. The barrier-free parking payment solution will be available at the Fashion, Grand, and Cinema parking zones, while Zabeel and Fountain Views parking locations will remain complimentary. Motorists will enjoy free parking for four hours during weekdays and six hours over the weekends, with charges ranging from Dh20 to Dh1,000 applying after.

The new system will utilize Salik’s technology to offer a smooth and barrier-free parking experience for visitors to the mall. Automatic fee collection for ticketless parking will be implemented using vehicle plate recognition to deduct fees from Salik user accounts when needed. This parking payment solution will be operated by Salik at Dubai Mall for a period of five years starting from July 1.

Under the agreement between Salik and Dubai Mall, Salik will take care of designing, financing, developing, installing, and managing the parking payment collection system, while Dubai Mall will provide the necessary local infrastructure, office space, and car park maintenance for the 13,000 parking spaces in the mall. Salik currently has 4.1 million vehicles registered in its database, covering nearly 90% of vehicles operating in the UAE.

In the first quarter of 2024, Salik recorded 122.8 million revenue-generating trips and a total revenue of Dh562 million, marking an increase of 8.1% year-on-year, which is the highest Q1 revenue-generating trips since the company’s inception in 2007. Ibrahim Sultan Al Haddad, CEO of Salik Company, mentioned that this move is part of their strategic evolution to become a global leader in sustainable and smart mobility solutions.

Al Haddad also highlighted that this initiative eliminates the need for gates or barriers, helping to minimize congestion and further added that they plan to expand their offering to other locations in the future. By leveraging Salik’s technology and expertise, Dubai Mall aims to enhance the parking experience for visitors and streamline the payment process. The deployment of this innovative parking payment solution represents a significant step towards enhancing convenience and efficiency for mall visitors.
