Dr. Amal Muhammed Aburawi, a Dubai-based gynaecologist, was called in for an emergency case in the early hours of May 21. She had to reach the hospital in less than 20 minutes to save the lives of a mother and her newborn. Despite the usual commute time of 45 minutes to one-and-a-half hours, Dr. Amal managed to navigate through traffic and reach the hospital in just 17 minutes. Both the mother and baby were in critical condition, but with Dr. Amal’s quick action, they underwent a successful surgery and are now in stable condition.

While on her way to the hospital, Dr. Amal encountered heavy traffic and contacted the police control room to inform them about the emergency. She did not request an escort but wanted the authorities to be aware of her speeding to reach the hospital on time. Dr. Amal’s dedication and determination to save lives have earned her appreciation from both the medical community and the police, who have waived off the speeding fines incurred during the emergency.

Following the incident, Dr. Amal received a call from the Dubai Police control room, enquiring about her safety and the child’s health. They also informed her about the ‘Bin Wraiqa’ service, launched in 2020, which assists frontline doctors in reaching hospitals during emergencies by providing police escorts to avoid traffic delays. Dr. Amal’s fines for speeding were waived off, highlighting the importance of supporting medical professionals in critical situations.

Dr. Amal’s commitment to her patients and her quick response to emergency cases exemplify the dedication of healthcare professionals in saving lives. Despite working long hours and facing challenges, her focus remains on providing the best possible care to those in need. The support from the Dubai Police through services like ‘Bin Wraiqa’ reinforces the importance of collaboration between law enforcement and medical professionals in emergency situations.

The successful outcome of the emergency case on May 21 due to Dr. Amal’s intervention serves as a reminder of the crucial role medical professionals play in saving lives. The swift action taken by Dr. Amal highlights the importance of timely intervention in critical situations to ensure positive outcomes for patients. The support and coordination between healthcare providers and law enforcement agencies are essential in enabling swift responses to emergencies and ensuring the safety and well-being of individuals.

In a world where every second counts during emergencies, the dedication and commitment of healthcare professionals like Dr. Amal Muhammed Aburawi make a significant difference in saving lives. By working collaboratively with law enforcement agencies and utilizing services like ‘Bin Wraiqa’, medical professionals can ensure timely responses to critical situations and enhance the overall healthcare infrastructure. Dr. Amal’s story is a testament to the resilience and determination of frontline workers who go above and beyond to provide exceptional care to those in need.
