A 32-year-old Gulf national is on trial for attempted murder, alleging that the victim raped him when he was a child. The incident took place in a mosque in Al Qouz, where the suspect attempted to strangle a 39-year-old Gulf national after late-night prayers during Ramadan. The suspect denied the charges of attempted murder and claimed that he did not have any intention to kill the victim.

According to official records, the incident occurred in April when the victim was attending a late-night prayer during Ramadan. The suspect approached the victim after the prayer and tried to strangle him, leading to a physical altercation between the two men. Worshippers intervened to stop the attack and separated them.

The suspect’s lawyer stated that his client did assault the victim but did not intend to kill him. The suspect claimed that he was triggered by the trauma of being allegedly abused by the victim when he was a child, leading to the altercation in the mosque. The victim reported suffering injuries to his lower neck and jaw during the incident.

The victim accused the suspect of attacking him from behind and threatening to kill him as revenge for the alleged rape. Witnesses reported that the suspect made multiple death threats towards the victim. Despite the suspect’s rape allegations, the victim denied any previous troubles with him and provided a hospital report to confirm his injuries.

After the incident, the suspect was taken into custody and later released on a conditional basis with a travel ban. Prosecutors dropped the death threat charge against the suspect, but continued to pursue the attempted murder complaint. The case is ongoing, and a hearing will be held soon to determine the outcome of the trial.
