The Junior DIAMUN conference hosted by Dubai International Academy (DIA) Emirates Hills brought together about 100 students from five schools in Dubai to engage in simulation activities related to diplomacy and international relations. The theme of the conference was ‘Innovating Towards a Sustainable Future’, where students debated and proposed solutions for global issues such as gender disparity, disaster preparedness, global warming, climate change, water shortages, poverty, and hunger. Delegates from schools operated by Innoventures Education participated in committees to discuss these topics and hone their skills in writing, public speaking, research, critical thinking, and self-management.

One of the young delegates, Noel Stephen, shared his experience of writing a resolution titled ‘Preparedness in the face of natural disasters’ and described the conference as a great opportunity to identify solutions for global issues. Maryam Rashed Alshamsi, an Emirati student from Raffles International School, felt confident after presenting her position paper on encouraging the adoption of a circular economy in the fashion industry. She emphasized the importance of educating consumers and raising awareness. Another student, Ihita Gosavi from Collegiate International School, highlighted the importance of research and teamwork in preparing for the conference.

Poonam Bhojani, CEO of Innoventures Education, expressed pride in the students for organizing the first-ever Junior DIAMUN conference successfully. She commended their enthusiasm for global issues and their willingness to engage in diplomatic discussions. The conference provided young students with an opportunity to develop critical thinking, public speaking, and teamwork skills, while also fostering global citizenship. With a focus on engaging students in discussions on real-world issues and promoting collaboration, the conference aimed to prepare them for future leadership roles in diplomacy and international relations.

In summary, the Junior DIAMUN conference in Dubai provided a platform for students to delve into global issues and engage in diplomatic simulations. Through debates, resolutions, and discussions on topics like disaster preparedness, gender disparity, and climate change, students from various schools honed their skills in communication, research, and critical thinking. The conference emphasized the importance of education, awareness, and teamwork in addressing global challenges while fostering global citizenship among young students. Overall, the event was a success in empowering students to become future leaders in diplomacy and international relations.
