The G4D (Golf for the Disabled) Tour, in partnership with the EDGA (European Disabled Golf Association), is well underway with the 2024 season, culminating in November at Jumeirah Golf Estates alongside the DP World Tour Championship. The G4D Tour Series Finale will take place on the Earth course from 15th to 16th November, 2024. Last year’s event saw Mike Browne emerge as the champion with a score of one under par over 18 holes due to adverse weather conditions.

Launched in 2022, the G4D Tour for the 2023-24 season selects tournament fields using both the Gross and Net World Rankings for Golfers with a Disability (WR4GD), supported by The R&A and USGA. The top eight male and two female players from each ranking will be invited to compete, with some tournaments using a Gross format and others a Net format. The tour aims to promote international golf development and showcase the game’s accessibility to all players.

Tony Bennett, President of EDGA, emphasizes that elite performance in the G4D Tour is not just about low scores but about achieving one’s potential through a blend of physical, sensory, cognitive, and emotional skills. EDGA, with 36 national golf federations as members, organizes events worldwide in countries like the UAE, South Africa, Japan, and many more, promoting inclusivity in the sport.

Participation in the G4D Tour requires Gross players to have a WHS handicap of 3.4 or less for males, 7.4 or less for females, or professional status. Net players need a handicap of 14.4 or less for males and 18.4 or less for females. The DP World Tour and European Tour Group provide financial support, along with EDGA and other partners, to raise awareness, organize tournaments, and enhance golf development and coach education globally.

The 2024 G4D Tour season has seen events in Australia, Ras Al Khaimah, Kenya, the UK, and the US, with upcoming events at the Betfred British Masters, BMW PGA Championship, Estrella Damm N.A. Andalucia Masters, and the G4D Tour Series Finale at the DP World Tour Championship. The current WR4GD rankings feature players like Kipp Popert, Brendan Lawlor, and Mike Browne among the top contenders.

For more information on the G4D Tour and EDGA, visit their website at www.edgagolf.com and stay updated on upcoming events and player rankings. The tour continues to promote disabled golfers’ participation and development globally, showcasing that golf is a game for everyone regardless of challenges they may face. Get involved and support the inclusivity of golf in the G4D and EDGA community.
