Novak Djokovic, the world number one tennis player, is preparing for the French Open title defense after skipping the Madrid Masters last month. The Serbian player recently arrived in Rome to continue training for the upcoming Grand Slam tournament. Djokovic’s last competition was at the Monte Carlo Masters where he lost in the semifinals. The record 24-times Grand Slam winner is still in search of his first trophy of the season. Despite splitting with his long-time coach Goran Ivanisevic, Djokovic is working with former doubles world number one Nenad Zimonjic and is satisfied with his progress leading up to Roland Garros.

Djokovic shared his excitement about his training and preparation for the upcoming tournaments, including the French Open, during a press conference in Rome. He emphasized the importance of training with top players and fine-tuning his game ahead of official matches. Djokovic expressed his confidence in peaking for the Roland Garros in Paris, aiming to perform better than in Monte Carlo. The Serbian player also made changes to his coaching staff, rehiring fitness coach Gebhard Gritsch as he targets success in Grand Slams and the Paris Olympics.

The 37-year-old tennis star believes that the restructuring of his coaching team will contribute to his success in the upcoming tournaments. Djokovic emphasized the synchronization between him, Zimonjic, and Gritsch, highlighting their shared vision for training on and off the court. The player expressed satisfaction with his recent training and preparation, looking forward to competing in Rome and setting his sights on Roland Garros, Wimbledon, and the Olympic Games. Djokovic’s focus is on peak performance and achieving success in the major tournaments on the tennis calendar.

Djokovic’s decision to skip the Madrid Masters and focus on training in Rome indicates his commitment to performing well at the French Open. The Serbian player’s dedication to improving his game and optimizing his performance for the upcoming tournaments demonstrates his resilience and determination as a top-ranked player in the world. Djokovic’s strategic approach to training and preparation, including working with experienced coaches and refining his game against top players, sets him on a promising path towards success in the Grand Slam events and the Olympics. As Djokovic continues to build towards his title defense at the French Open, fans and tennis enthusiasts eagerly anticipate his performance on the court.
