The Third International Forum Woman of the Third Millennium recently took place in Moscow, with HE Dr. Hessa bint Hassan Al Sulaiti, Deputy Speaker of the Shura Council, representing Qatar. In her speech, she highlighted Qatar’s commitment to supporting and empowering women across various developmental and societal fields. She emphasized the importance of empowering women and strengthening their participation in achieving global peace.
Al Sulaiti praised Qatar’s efforts in empowering women and providing them with the means to become active partners in the national development process. She noted that Qatari women now play key roles in the labor market, as well as in nurturing and caring for families, making them vital supporters of the nation’s stability and prosperity.

The forum served as a platform for discussions on women’s issues and the challenges they face, especially in conflict areas. Al Sulaiti highlighted the suffering of women and girls in conflict zones, emphasizing the need for immediate international intervention to protect their rights amidst wars and conflicts. She specifically mentioned the atrocities committed against women in Palestine and Lebanon due to brutal aggression and genocidal campaigns by the occupying Israeli forces, calling it one of the worst crimes in modern history.

Addressing peace and security issues, Al Sulaiti stressed the importance of empowering women to participate effectively in peace processes and reconstruction efforts. She mentioned United Nations Security Council Resolution 1325, which recognizes the crucial role of women in peacemaking and addressing the impacts of violence. She expressed hope for more efforts to protect women in conflict areas and hold violators of women’s rights in war zones accountable.

Al Sulaiti also participated in a discussion session on the power of soft diplomacy at the forum. She highlighted the importance of soft diplomacy as the popular dimension of diplomatic work, noting its influence in shaping countries’ foreign policies. She encouraged women to continue their efforts in education and digital technology to achieve success in soft diplomacy. Al Sulaiti emphasized Qatar’s commitment to educating and training women at all levels and in all specializations, enabling them to assume leadership positions and make significant contributions across various fields.

In conclusion, the Deputy Speaker reiterated Qatar’s commitment to enhancing its soft diplomatic power for a safer, more prosperous, and just world. The Woman of the Third Millennium International Forum provided a platform for female leaders to exchange experiences and discuss the growing role of women in the modern world. With the participation of prominent figures and representatives from women’s organizations in Russia and around the world, the forum aimed to unite female leaders and learn about best practices in empowering women.
