The Makkah Buses Project is a groundbreaking public transportation initiative in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia that aims to improve transportation services in the holy city of Makkah. Prince Saud bin Mishaal, deputy emir of the Makkah region and member of the Board of Directors of the Royal Commission for Makkah City and Holy Sites, recently conducted an inspection tour of the project. During his visit, he was briefed on the technologies used in the buses, including surveillance and audio systems, as well as advanced cooling systems. The project covers most neighborhoods of Makkah in its first phase, with 12 routes spanning 580 km and 431 stations. The buses are equipped with spacious seating options, with regular buses accommodating up to 85 passengers and articulated buses accommodating up to 125 passengers.

The primary goal of the Makkah Buses Project is to enhance the transportation infrastructure in Makkah and provide convenient options for residents and visitors alike. The project serves the central region through four stations: Al-Marwa Station, Jabal Al-Kaaba Station, Ajyad Station, and Ibrahim Al-Khalil Station. Since its launch, the project has already catered to over 161 million passengers, showcasing its success and popularity among the community. CEO of the Royal Commission for Makkah City and Holy Sites, Eng. Saleh Al-Rasheed, expressed his appreciation for the deputy emir’s visit, emphasizing the importance of such projects in improving the quality of services in Makkah.

The Royal Commission for Makkah City and Holy Sites has garnered recognition for its efforts in implementing the Makkah Bus Project, receiving awards such as the Labbaytum Award for Excellence from the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, as well as the Makkah Excellence Award for Hajj and Umrah Services from the emirate of the Makkah region. These accolades highlight the positive impact of the project on the transportation network and overall infrastructure in Makkah. The successful implementation of the Makkah Buses Project showcases the commitment of the authorities to enhance the quality of services and facilitate the movement of individuals within the city.

Overall, the Makkah Buses Project represents a significant step forward in revolutionizing public transportation in Makkah. By providing efficient and modern bus services, the project aims to address the transportation needs of the city’s residents and visitors, ultimately improving their overall experience. The success and recognition garnered by the project further attest to its effectiveness in enhancing the transportation infrastructure in Makkah. With continued support and investment in such initiatives, Makkah is poised to further strengthen its transportation network and create a more accessible and convenient environment for all.
