South Africa’s Tony de Zorzi displayed an impressive performance, making an unbeaten century in the match against Bangladesh in Chattogram. De Zorzi’s maiden Test ton, achieved off 146 deliveries, helped South Africa reach a score of 205-1 by tea on the first day of the second Test. With eight fours and two sixes to his name, De Zorzi showcased his batting prowess alongside Tristan Stubbs, who scored 65 runs. Having won the toss, South Africa opted to bat first on a favorable pitch for batting.

The only wicket to fall for South Africa in the first session was that of Captain Aiden Markram, who was dismissed for 33 off the bowling of Taijul Islam. Bangladesh, eager to take more wickets, have lost two of their reviews in the innings due to unsuccessful appeals. Despite the pressure from the opposition, De Zorzi and Stubbs held their ground, denying the Bangladeshi bowlers any further success.

The match saw South Africa making tactical changes to their lineup, introducing all-rounder Senuran Muthusamy and fast bowler Dane Paterson in place of Matthew Breetzke and Dane Piedt. On the other hand, Bangladesh made three changes to their team, including debutant batsman Zakir Hasan, fast bowler Nahid Rana, and wicketkeeper Mahidul Islam Ankon. Despite the alterations, Bangladesh’s performance failed to match South Africa’s dominance in the match.

In the first Test of the series, South Africa emerged victorious, with fast bowler Kagiso Rabada leading the charge with a six-wicket haul in the second innings. As the second Test unfolds, South Africa aims to secure the series win with a strong showing against Bangladesh. With a history of only two wins in 24 Tests in Chattogram, Bangladesh faces an uphill task against a formidable South African side led by the dynamic batting of Tony de Zorzi and the solid support from Tristan Stubbs.
