Dark Trooper claimed victory in the Barzan Cup at Al Rayyan Racecourse yesterday, confirming his class as a top contender in the racing circuit. The 5-year-old gelding, ridden by James Doyle, demonstrated exceptional skill and endurance, securing a half-length win in the 1600m race for 4YO+ Thoroughbreds.

The triumph marked Dark Trooper’s second consecutive Barzan Cup win under the same trainer, Alban de Mieulle, and owner, Wathnan Racing. The victory was part of a successful day for the team, with Qatar Racing and Equestrian Club’s Racing Manager Abdulla Rashid Al Kubaisi presenting the trophies to the winners.

Impressive Performances in Thoroughbred Races

The Thoroughbred Guineas saw Basalt emerge victorious, remaining unbeaten in his two starts this season. The grey colt, trained by Gassim Al Ghazali and ridden by Marco Casamento, showcased impressive speed and agility, securing a 2¼-length win.

Sealine also continued his strong form, securing his third win in four starts with a determined victory in the Local Thoroughbred Guineas. Trained by M.H.K Al Attiyah and ridden by Szczepan Mazur, Sealine demonstrated consistent performance and skill.

Purebred Arabian Racing Highlights

In the Purebred Arabian Guineas, Lueur De Faust made a notable Qatar debut, doubling her career tally with a brilliant late surge to win the title. The bay filly, owned by Khalifa bin Sheail Al Kuwari and trained by Julian Smart, showcased impressive racing abilities under Alberto Sanna.

Shabbab delivered a commanding performance to win the Sheraouh Island Cup for 4YO+ Purebred Arabians over 2000m. Representing Al Shaqab Racing and trained by Jean de Mieulle, Shabbab surged past the competition in the final 300m to secure a three-length victory under Faleh Bughenaim.

The recent racing events at Al Rayyan Racecourse have highlighted the talent and skill of various horses and their teams. As the racing season progresses, fans and enthusiasts will be watching for continued strong performances and potential upsets.

According to recent reports, the next major racing event is expected to take place later this month, with several top contenders already preparing for the competition.
