The Doha Photography Festival, organized by the Qatar Photography Center under the Ministry of Culture, was inaugurated by Minister of Culture HE Sheikh Abdulrahman bin Hamad Al Thani on November 8. The festival, part of the cultural season activities, will run until November 13 and feature participation from 8 international companies specializing in photography cameras. The event, held opposite Darb Al Saai in Umm Salal, was attended by various government officials and dignitaries.

The festival includes personal and group exhibitions of old photos and cameras, a dedicated space for film images, and a main theater for lectures and seminars by international photographers. Workshops and interactive platforms for the public are also being organized. Dr. Ghanem bin Mubarak Al Ali, Assistant Undersecretary for Cultural Affairs at the Ministry of Culture, highlighted the festival’s goal of promoting photography as a means of expression, documentation, and inspiration.

The Doha Photography Festival aims to showcase the art of photography, inspire society through photographers’ stories and experiences, and provide workshops to enhance capabilities. The event serves as a meeting place for photographers, creators, and international companies in the field. The ministry is dedicated to promoting photographic heritage and culture through the display of old cameras and photos, as well as skills development for photographers.

Director of the Qatar Photography Center Jassim Ahmed Al Buainain emphasized the festival’s platform for local photographers to showcase their works and interact with the public. With over 30 photography exhibitions, including participation from international companies like Canon, Nikon, and Sony, the festival enriches the experience for participants and visitors alike. The inclusion of local and Gulf shops specializing in photography equipment further enhances the event.

Overall, the Doha Photography Festival is an opportunity for photographers, creators, and the public to come together, celebrate the art of photography, and learn from industry experts. Through exhibitions, workshops, and interactive platforms, the festival aims to inspire and educate individuals on the importance of photography as a form of expression and documentation. With the support of international companies and local shops, the event promises to be a valuable experience for all involved.
