Qatar Museums, under the leadership of H E Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, recently participated in the Fourth World Conference on Creative Economy (WCCE) in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. This major international event, organised by the Uzbekistan Art and Culture Development Foundation (ACDF) along with various partners, aimed to address challenges in the global creative economy. H E Sheikha Al Mayassa delivered a keynote address on the importance of global collaboration in the creative industries, emphasizing how creativity can transcend cultural barriers and drive societal progress.

The conference, held from October 2 to 4, focused on the theme “Inclusively Creative: A Shifted Reality” and brought together leaders and innovators from around the world. Notable attendees included representatives from various countries, the United Nations, and international organizations. Qatar Museums was represented by officials such as Shaika Nasser Al Nassr and Fahad Al Obaidly, who participated in panels on topics ranging from museums as hubs for creative communities to the role of architecture and design in economic growth.

One of the highlights of the event was the participation of Sara Raza, a curator involved in an upcoming exhibition organized by the future Lusail Museum in collaboration with Mathaf: Arab Museum of Modern Art. The conference provided a platform for networking, discussions, workshops, and performances, showcasing the vibrancy and creativity of Uzbekistan as a cultural hub. This year’s focus on inclusive creativity and the impact of technological advancements reflected the changing landscape of the creative economy.

Uzbekistan’s role as the host of the conference marked a significant milestone for Central Asia, signaling its commitment to promoting creative industries and fostering international collaboration. With over 2,000 representatives from more than 80 countries in attendance, the event highlighted the global interest in creative economics and the potential of creative industries to drive economic growth. The diverse range of events, including exhibitions, seminars, and masterclasses, provided a comprehensive platform for discussions and knowledge sharing.

Qatar Museums’ active participation in the WCCE underscored its commitment to promoting creativity and cultural exchange on a global scale. Through the insights shared by its representatives and speakers, the organization highlighted the transformative power of the creative industries in driving innovation and addressing societal challenges. As the world of culture and art continues to evolve, events like the WCCE serve as valuable opportunities for stakeholders to come together, exchange ideas, and explore new avenues for collaboration in the creative economy.
