The Communications Regulatory Authority (CRA) of Qatar is actively participating in the World Telecommunication Standardisation Assembly (WTSA-24) in New Delhi, India, from October 15 to 24, 2024. Leading the delegation is Engineer Ahmad Abdulla AlMuslemani, President of CRA. The WTSA is a significant event held every four years, serving as the governing conference for the International Telecommunication Union Standardization Sector (ITU-T). This year’s assembly aims to shape the future of ICT standards globally, with a focus on digital inclusion and emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), quantum information technologies, and the metaverse.

The WTSA-24 event organized by the ITU brings together global policymakers and industry leaders to define priorities for international standards that promote innovation, trust, and industry growth in the ICT sector. Engineer Ahmad Abdulla AlMuslemani expressed pride in representing Qatar at the event, highlighting CRA’s commitment to contributing to the international digital landscape and building a connected, sustainable future in alignment with Qatar’s vision and goals outlined in the National Vision 2030. As Chair-designate for ITU’s Plenipotentiary Conference (PP-26), AlMuslemani emphasized the importance of innovation and collaboration in shaping the future of ICTs.

The CRA delegation at WTSA-24 actively participates in various Study Groups and Committees, engaging in discussions on topics ranging from emerging technologies to future networks. The Network of Women event at the conference aims to promote women’s leadership in ICT standardization, with a focus on encouraging greater female participation in the sector. Engineer Dalal Al Ishaq, Infrastructure and Access Section Head at CRA, delivered a presentation at the WTSA24 Digital Wave Stage, highlighting Qatar’s implementation of ITU-T standards and offering insights into the future of ICTs with a focus on emerging technologies and standards.

As part of their presence at WTSA-24, CRA has a booth offering interactive content to showcase Qatar’s advancements in ICT and readiness to host PP-26. The event also features various other activities, such as the Robotics for Good Youth Challenge and ITU’s Kaleidoscope academic conference, providing participants with a diverse array of discussions and networking opportunities. Overall, CRA’s participation in WTSA-24 demonstrates their commitment to contributing to global ICT standards and shaping the future of technology in Qatar and beyond.
