Muscat: ASYAD Group has officially kicked off construction on the Muscat Airport Free Zone project, starting with the first phase that will include preparing the land, building an internal road network, and creating public service facilities. This project is aimed at boosting the region’s reputation as a global business hub and attracting foreign direct investment. The goal is to provide a modern and appealing work environment that will attract global and regional companies, financial institutions, general trading companies, and start-ups, positioning the free zone as a top destination for global business.

The Muscat Airport Free Zone project is part of ASYAD Group’s efforts to stimulate economic growth in Oman and strengthen its position as a key player in the global market. By situating the free zone next to Muscat International Airport, the project will enhance the economic significance of the area and integrate it within the ASYAD logistics system. This integrated system connects various land and sea ports, the dry port, and the free and special economic zones, increasing the volume of exports and imports via air freight for products like pharmaceuticals, food items, and e-commerce shipments.

As the entity responsible for developing and operating the Muscat Airport Free Zone, ASYAD Group is focused on creating a commercial environment that offers tax and customs exemptions, as well as commercial facilities, to make the zone a leading investment destination in the region and an international business hub. The group is also providing investment opportunities for the private sector through long-term partnerships to develop commercial projects that will enhance the free zone’s strategic assets and ensure partner institutions’ stability and sustainability.

Faisal bin Ali Al Balushi, Senior Manager of Muscat Airport Free Zone, highlighted the group’s commitment to working with private sector partners to implement this strategic project, emphasizing the importance of building an air logistics center in Oman to drive economic growth and create opportunities for local and international companies in the logistics sector. He noted that the free zone presents a chance for the Omani private sector to grow and take advantage of the competitive advantages and promising investment opportunities it offers, aligning with the goals of “Oman Vision 2040” to improve the Sultanate’s ranking in the Global Competitiveness Index.

In conclusion, the Muscat Airport Free Zone project is a significant step towards enhancing Oman’s position as a global business hub and attracting foreign direct investment by providing a modern work environment and world-class facilities that cater to a variety of businesses. ASYAD Group’s commitment to developing this project reflects its dedication to stimulating economic growth in the region and creating new opportunities for local and international companies in the logistics sector. By partnering with the private sector to develop commercial projects within the free zone, the group is paving the way for long-term success and sustainability, in line with the goals of “Oman Vision 2040”.
