The Bahraini government is committed to creating job opportunities for its citizens in the private sector through the “Bahrainization” policy. This policy aims to increase the percentage of Bahraini nationals employed in various sectors by setting specific ratios for each sector. Companies that fail to meet these ratios will be barred from competing for government tenders, highlighting the government’s determination to prioritize the employment of Bahraini citizens.

In addition to setting “Bahrainization” ratios, the government is working on implementing projects, initiatives, and incentives in collaboration with the Ministry of Labour and the Labour Fund “Tamkeen” to encourage employers to prioritize Bahrainis for job openings. The goal is to create an attractive investment environment while empowering Bahraini workers through training and qualification, making them the preferred choice for employers.

The government is also committed to making Bahraini workers more cost-effective for employers by offering wage support programs. These programs provide subsidies of up to 70% of the wages for the first year, 50% for the second year, and 30% for the third year for all Bahraini employees, regardless of their qualifications. This initiative aims to make hiring Bahraini workers more financially feasible for employers.

Furthermore, the government has implemented fees on the employment of foreign workers, with 80% of the revenue generated directed towards “Tamkeen.” This fund is used to support the training and development of Bahraini workers and create job opportunities for them in the private sector. By balancing the attraction of foreign investment with ensuring decent job opportunities for its citizens, the government aims to achieve a harmonious environment in the private sector.

Overall, the Bahraini government’s commitment to the “Bahrainization” policy and its initiatives to support Bahraini workers demonstrate its dedication to creating a thriving job market for its citizens in the private sector. By prioritizing the employment of Bahraini nationals, offering wage support programs, and implementing fees on foreign workers, the government seeks to strike a balance between attracting foreign investment and ensuring that Bahraini workers have access to quality job opportunities.

Through collaboration with the Ministry of Labour, the Labour Fund “Tamkeen,” and other stakeholders, the government is taking proactive steps to empower Bahraini workers through training, qualification, and financial support. This holistic approach aims to not only increase the employment of Bahraini nationals in the private sector but also to create a sustainable and inclusive job market that benefits both employers and employees.
