Mauricio Pochettino, the head coach of Chelsea, has been under pressure during his first season at Stamford Bridge. However, Chelsea players including Cole Palmer have expressed their support for the Argentine manager. The team is aiming to secure a European spot as they head into the final match of the season against Bournemouth. A win or even a draw would secure a sixth-place finish for Chelsea, granting them qualification for either the Europa League or the UEFA Conference League.

After a disappointing 12th place finish last season, Chelsea has shown improvement under Pochettino’s leadership. The team’s recent 2-1 victory against Brighton marked their fourth consecutive win, with Palmer scoring the opening goal. The 22-year-old midfielder praised the manager for his impact on the team’s performance and emphasized the importance of securing European football for Chelsea. Despite facing challenges earlier in the season, Palmer believes that finishing in sixth place would be a significant achievement for the club.

Palmer’s impressive goal-scoring record of 22 league goals this season equals the single-season best of Chelsea’s legendary player Frank Lampard. The young midfielder acknowledges the significance of this achievement and hopes to continue performing at a high level for Chelsea. Since joining the club from Manchester City for a substantial fee last year, Palmer has emerged as a key player for Chelsea and a vital part of their attacking lineup.

The support and admiration for Pochettino from the Chelsea players, including Palmer, highlight the positive relationship between the team and their manager. Despite the speculation surrounding Pochettino’s future at the club, the players remain focused on their goal of securing a European spot. The unity and determination within the squad reflect a sense of solidarity and commitment to achieving success under Pochettino’s guidance.

As Chelsea prepares for the crucial final match of the season, the players are determined to deliver a strong performance and secure a place in European competition. The significance of finishing in sixth place cannot be understated, considering the club’s recent struggles and the desire to return to top-tier European competition. With the support of the players and the leadership of Mauricio Pochettino, Chelsea aims to end the season on a positive note and build momentum heading into the next campaign.
