The Community College of Qatar (CCQ) has recently launched the Higher Education Certificate in Early Childhood Education in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MoEHE). The programme, set to begin in the 2024-25 academic year, aims to provide graduates with the necessary knowledge, skills, and attitudes to work as assistant teachers in schools. Dean of Liberal Arts Division Dr. Al Jazi Faraj Al Athba announced the enrolment of 101 female students sponsored by MoEHE. The one-year programme consists of 10 core courses in early childhood education, covering topics such as children’s psychosocial development, modern teaching strategies, digital skills enhancement, and educational assessment.

The curriculum of the Higher Education Certificate in Early Childhood Education has been carefully designed to be comprehensive and aligned with Qatar National Vision 2030, focusing on human development. Dr. Al Athba expressed pride in the programme’s launch, highlighting the strong partnership between CCQ and MoEHE. The initiative solidifies CCQ’s position as a leading institution of higher education capable of adapting to changes in the education sector and providing innovative solutions to societal and job market challenges. The programme represents a significant step towards MoEHE’s goal of enhancing the school education system through specialized programmes that prepare educators with the latest teaching methods for optimal care and education of young children.

With an increased demand for qualified educators and specialists in early childhood education, the Higher Education Certificate in Early Childhood Education seeks to address this need by keeping up with advancements in pedagogical and educational practices. The programme emphasizes the integration of theoretical and practical training to lay the foundation for the intellectual and social development of children. By providing graduates with the necessary skills and knowledge, the programme aims to equip them with the latest teaching methods to meet the evolving needs of the education sector and society at large.

Overall, the launch of the Higher Education Certificate in Early Childhood Education marks a significant milestone for CCQ and MoEHE in their efforts to enhance higher education and develop national expertise. The programme not only addresses the demand for qualified educators in early childhood education but also supports Qatar National Vision 2030’s goals for human development. Through its comprehensive curriculum and strong partnership between CCQ and MoEHE, the programme is poised to make a positive impact on the education sector and society by preparing a new generation of educators with the necessary skills and knowledge to provide quality care and education for young children.
