Electric motorbikes are becoming an increasingly popular mode of transportation due to their safety, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness compared to traditional petrol motorcycles. Careem, a leading app in the region, recently launched Dubai’s first fleet of electric delivery motorbikes as part of its ‘CareemGreen’ initiative to promote sustainability and reduce carbon emissions. These advanced electric motorbikes are powered by lithium battery packs and can be conveniently charged at over 192 Careem Bike stations across Dubai.

The introduction of these electric motorbikes not only benefits the environment by reducing carbon emissions but also offers significant cost savings for Careem’s delivery captains. With up to 50% lower operating costs compared to petrol-powered motorcycles, these electric vehicles are a more economical option for businesses looking to reduce their environmental impact while also saving money on deliveries. The reduction in carbon footprint from these electric bikes contributes to Dubai’s goal of becoming a global leader in sustainability.

Designed with a focus on safety, comfort, and performance, the electric motorbikes are a safer and quieter alternative to traditional petrol motorcycles. With a top speed of 80 km/hr, wider wheels, and a weight of 130 kg, these bikes offer delivery captains a more comfortable and secure riding experience. Beyond just delivery, Careem’s commitment to sustainability extends to its entire fleet of hybrid and electric vehicles, as well as its bike-sharing scheme that has helped mitigate over 1.9 million kilograms of carbon emissions in Dubai.

Careem’s initiative aligns with its dedication to the wellbeing of its captains by providing sustainable and flexible earning opportunities. By expanding the presence of electric and hybrid vehicles on its platform, Careem is actively making a positive difference in the environment and the communities it serves.
