Hamad International Airport (DOH) recently sent ten candidates from its national talent development program, Enjaz, to undergo a three-week training program at the Munich Airport Academy in Germany. The aim of the program is to nurture and grow Qatari talent in the aviation industry, in alignment with Qatar’s National Vision 2030 – Human Development Pillar. The program included in-depth training on airport operations, management, infrastructure, safety, and security, among other airport-related topics.

The training program was a result of the longstanding partnership between Hamad International Airport and Munich Airport International (MAI), the consulting subsidiary of Munich Airport. The candidates had the opportunity to participate in theory sessions and practical on-the-job experiences, led by subject matter experts and senior management from Munich Airport, Munich Airport Academy, and MAI. They were introduced to the operations and functions of an airport city, different airport business models, and all facets of the aviation industry.

Ahmed Essa Al Baker, Manager of National Development & Employee Engagement at Hamad International Airport, highlighted the importance of the Enjaz program in developing Qatari talent for the future of the aviation industry. The program is part of the airport’s Talent Development Strategy, which aims to invest in the capabilities of nationals to lead the industry with the right knowledge, skills, and experience. The Enjaz Programme at Hamad International Airport consists of two divisions – ‘Essential’ and ‘Advanced’ – focusing on technical, managerial, and leadership skills.

The ‘Essential’ development plan is a one-year course that provides functional training and managerial foundation training to support individuals in their current roles. On the other hand, the ‘Advanced’ plan is a one-year course tailored towards preparing candidates for senior management positions, focusing on honing managerial and leadership skills through on-the-job training and coaching, both locally and internationally. This comprehensive training program aims to build the capabilities of national employees and provide them with the tools to excel in their careers.

Overall, the three-week training program at the Munich Airport Academy was a valuable opportunity for the Enjaz candidates to enhance their knowledge and skills in airport operations and management. The program not only provided theoretical insights but also practical experiences led by industry experts. Hamad International Airport’s commitment to fostering relationships in the aviation industry and investing in the development of Qatari talent demonstrates its dedication to supporting the growth of the aviation industry and achieving Qatar’s vision for human development.
