The latest FIFA monthly rankings have been released, showing the Saudi national football team dropping three places to 59th in the world. This decline comes after disappointing results in the World Cup 2026 qualifiers, where the team lost to Japan and drew with Bahrain. As a result, there have been calls from the Saudi sports community for a change in coach, with many urging the federation to appoint a new coach to lead the team through the remaining qualifying matches and secure a spot in the 2026 World Cup.

Currently, Saudi Arabia is sitting in third place in its group with 5 points after four matches, having won one, drawn two, and lost one. The upcoming match against Australia will be crucial for their chances of qualification. In the overall global rankings, Argentina maintains the top spot, with France in second and Spain in third. England and Brazil follow in fourth and fifth place, respectively, while Belgium holds the sixth spot. The Netherlands has fallen to eighth place, allowing Portugal to take its place.

Among Arab teams, Morocco is the highest ranked at 13th, followed by Egypt at 30th, Algeria at 37th, Qatar at 46th, Tunisia at 47th, Iraq at 56th, Saudi Arabia at 59th, Jordan at 64th, the UAE at 68th, Bahrain at 76th, Oman at 80th, Syria at 93rd, and Palestine at 100th. These rankings reflect the performances of each team in recent matches and competitions, highlighting the competitive nature of football in the Arab world.

The calls for a change in coach for the Saudi national team come as a response to the team’s struggles in the World Cup qualifiers. With only a few matches remaining to secure a spot in the 2026 World Cup, many believe that a new coach could bring fresh tactics and strategies to improve the team’s performance. The upcoming match against Australia will be a crucial test for the Saudi team, as they aim to bounce back from recent setbacks and push towards qualification.

The global rankings by FIFA show the dominance of traditional football powerhouses like Argentina, France, and Spain at the top. However, there has been movement among Arab teams, with Morocco and Egypt leading the way in the rankings. As the Saudi national team looks to climb back up the rankings and secure their spot in the World Cup, they will need to regroup and focus on delivering strong performances in the remaining qualifiers. The support of the Saudi sports community will be crucial in motivating the team to achieve success on the international stage.

Overall, the FIFA monthly rankings offer a snapshot of the current state of international football, showcasing the strengths and weaknesses of each team. For the Saudi national team, the rankings serve as a reminder of the work that lies ahead in order to achieve their goals of qualifying for the 2026 World Cup. With determination and hard work, the team has the potential to turn their fortunes around and make a strong push towards securing their place among the world’s best teams. The upcoming matches will test their resolve and determination, as they look to overcome challenges and emerge victorious in the quest for World Cup qualification.
