The Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology in Oman recently launched the ‘Hadatha Cybersecurity Award’, in collaboration with the National Centre for Information Safety (Oman National CERT). This award aims to recognize and promote local talents, innovators, and organizations that are committed to cybersecurity initiatives in the Sultanate of Oman. The organizers evaluate the performance and accomplishments in the field of security in order to raise Oman’s global indices in innovation and cybersecurity.
The ‘Hadatha Cybersecurity Award’ is designed to establish a comprehensive cybersecurity system that utilizes the services of experts, specialists, and competent authorities. The award also aims to celebrate success stories in the field of cybersecurity. The competition includes three main categories for competitors: “Individuals”, “Establishments”, and “Startups and Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs)”. The “Individuals” category focuses on initiatives with economic and social returns, such as awareness campaigns, academic research, scholarly papers, and self-employment projects.
The “Establishments” category highlights institutions that have demonstrated readiness in upgrading their social responsibility to serve the cybersecurity industry program. This category showcases the efforts of organizations in promoting cybersecurity awareness and implementing effective security measures in their operations. The third category of the award celebrates the accomplishments of startups and SMEs that have made significant contributions to the cybersecurity industry through projects that have a positive economic impact on Oman.
By recognizing and rewarding individuals, organizations, startups, and SMEs that are actively involved in cybersecurity initiatives, the ‘Hadatha Cybersecurity Award’ aims to drive innovation and excellence in the field of cybersecurity in Oman. Through this award, the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology seeks to establish a culture of cybersecurity awareness and best practices among the local community.
