A delegation from the Saudi Fund for Development (SFD) visited the Special Economic Zone at Duqm (Sezad) to strengthen cooperation and partnership with the Public Authority for Special Economic Zones and Free Zones (Opaz). The meeting focused on investment fields and opportunities in Sezad and other areas under the Authority’s supervision. Efforts to implement infrastructure projects that attract local and foreign investment in Duqm were highlighted, leading to increased interest in investing in the region. The SFD delegation commended the growth seen in Duqm since their last visit and expressed interest in enhancing cooperation with the Authority.

The three-day visit offers an opportunity to review the progress of projects financed by the SFD in Sezad and explore the region’s plans for future projects to contribute to economic sustainability and achieve Oman Vision 2040. The delegation visited ongoing and completed projects, including the Ras Markaz project and the Fisheries and Food Industries Complex, which are flagship projects in Duqm. The General Manager of the Support Services Sector at Opaz stated that the goal of the visit was to strengthen the partnership with the SFD and review the progress of the funded projects, emphasizing the SFD’s contributions to financing major projects in Oman.

Opaz continues to develop a strategic relationship with the SFD to explore financing opportunities for promising projects in the Special Economic Zone at Duqm. The Authority aims to enhance cooperation in all fields to benefit companies in both countries from the infrastructure projects implemented in Sezad. The partnership between Opaz and the SFD aims to support the development of Duqm and attract more local and foreign investment to the region. The successful completion of major projects funded by the SFD demonstrates the mutual commitment to economic development in Oman.

The visit by the SFD delegation signifies the growing interest in investing in Duqm and the potential for further collaboration between the SFD and Opaz. The ongoing infrastructure projects in the region have created opportunities for local and foreign investors, with a focus on sustainable economic development. The progress made in Duqm since the last visit by the SFD delegation reflects the commitment to enhancing cooperation and partnership to drive economic growth in the region. The review of funded projects and exploration of future opportunities demonstrate the shared vision for the future of Duqm.

Overall, the visit by the SFD delegation to Duqm highlights the importance of collaboration between organizations like Opaz and the SFD to drive economic development in Oman. The partnership aims to attract investment, create jobs, and support sustainable growth in the region. By strengthening cooperation and exploring financing opportunities for key projects, the SFD and Opaz are working towards achieving common goals for the benefit of both countries. The visit underscores the commitment to enhancing the partnership between the SFD and Opaz to support the continued growth and development of Duqm as a key economic hub in the region.
