The State Audit Institution (SAI) in Oman recently launched a training program titled “Sustainability of Government Investments in the Governorates” in collaboration with an institutional partner. The three-day program, held in Dhofar Governorate, is designed for General Directors, internal audit specialists, and employees involved in project and investment management within the State Administrative Apparatus. The program aims to enhance professional competencies and promote resource efficiency.

The inauguration of the training program took place at the Sultan Qaboos Youth Complex for Culture and Entertainment in Salalah under the patronage of Younis Al Toobi, Director General of the Directorate General of Financial & Administrative Audit in Dhofar Governorate. The program, delivered by SAI specialists, focuses on understanding the strategic direction of sustaining investment and development in the governorates, building capacities in evaluating investments, detecting fraud and corruption, and dealing with public fund crimes.

The training program covers various themes such as national priorities for the development of governorates aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, economic decentralization, local governance of investments, measuring investment performance, and addressing fraud and corruption issues. Practical cases are utilized to illustrate these concepts and enhance participants’ understanding of the topics discussed during the program.

Participants in the training program are equipped with the necessary skills to evaluate and monitor investments, detect irregularities, and adhere to legal frameworks regulating development projects. Additionally, the program focuses on ensuring participants can effectively deal with public fund crimes, audit development projects, and implement appropriate legal procedures. The aim is to enhance professional capacities and promote the sustainability of government investments in the governorates.

By launching the training program, the State Audit Institution aims to empower participants to effectively contribute to the development and sustainability of government investments in the governorates. The program seeks to enhance the capabilities of employees in evaluating and monitoring investments, detecting fraud and corruption, and implementing legal procedures to address irregularities.
