Travellers flying to and from the Philippines can expect higher airport fees in Manila next year as confirmed by a top government official. Transportation Secretary Jaime Bautista announced that terminal fees at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (Naia) will be increased by 2025, pending Cabinet approval. The Department of Transportation (DOTr) is proposing an increase in terminal fees to Php950, up from the current Php550 for international trips and Php200 for domestic journeys. Overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) are exempted from these charges.

The fee hikes are seen as necessary to modernize the airport, with the last increase in rates occurring 24 years ago. The proposal follows a Php170.6-billion concession deal between the DOTr and Naia Infra Corp, a private company. The increase in fees would assist the corporation in earning from their investments in the airport. Naia Infra Corp has committed over P122.3 billion in capital investments over 25 years, according to a report by GMA News.

With the impending fee increase, passengers should prepare for higher costs when traveling through Manila’s airport. The additional revenue generated from the hike in terminal fees is crucial for the modernization and improvement of Naia. The DOTr is working towards enhancing the overall experience for travelers and ensuring that the airport meets international standards. Updates on the proposed fee changes and approval process will be crucial for passengers to stay informed of any adjustments to their travel expenses. Being aware of these developments can help travelers better plan and budget for their trips to and from the Philippines.

It is essential for passengers flying to and from the Philippines to keep track of any updates regarding the proposed increase in airport fees at Naia. The potential rise in terminal fees will impact both domestic and international travelers, necessitate changes in travel budgets, and require adjustments in trip expenses. As discussions continue and the proposal moves forward, it is crucial for passengers to stay informed about the latest developments and any revisions to the fee hike plan. By staying updated on these changes, travelers can better prepare and anticipate the financial implications of the new airport fees when flying in and out of Manila.

The increase in terminal fees at Naia is part of the government’s efforts to modernize the airport and enhance its facilities to meet international standards. The last adjustment in rates occurred over two decades ago, highlighting the importance of updating fees to keep up with evolving infrastructure needs and passenger demands. The proposed fee hike is a vital component of the ongoing improvements at Naia, and the additional revenue generated will contribute towards enhancing the overall travel experience for passengers. By investing in the airport’s development, the government aims to create a more efficient and passenger-friendly environment at Naia for the benefit of all travelers.

As discussions surrounding the terminal fee increase at Ninoy Aquino International Airport progress, passengers should stay informed about the latest updates and developments. The proposed fee hike is part of the government’s efforts to modernize and improve airport facilities, with the goal of meeting international standards and enhancing the overall travel experience for passengers. By keeping abreast of any changes in airport fees and regulations, travelers can better plan and budget for their trips in and out of Manila. Being aware of the potential adjustments in terminal fees will allow passengers to make informed decisions and prepare financially for their travel expenses.
