The Public Authority for Special Economic Zones and Free Zones (Opaz) recently introduced the OMAP platform at the Comex Technology Show 2024 in Muscat. This platform consists of integrated geographical maps of all the broad plans for special economic zones, free zones, and industrial cities supervised by Opaz. The OMAP platform received positive feedback from visitors at the event due to its simplicity and availability of geographic data. This led to an increase in both the quantity and frequency of users interacting with the platform, indicating high user satisfaction with the experience.

Najia bint Sultan Al-Hajriya, Head of Opaz Geographic Information Systems, highlighted the functionalities of the OMAP platform that facilitate the search for investment sites. Users can access detailed information on vital landmarks, facilities, and surrounding public services based on their chosen location. Additionally, users can measure distances between various locations, such as between a plot and transportation networks that connect to international markets. The platform offers various tools, including measurement, planning, and sketching tools, as well as a Location Selection Tool, Print Map Tool, Sketch Creation Tool, and Nearby Services Search Tool.

One of the key benefits of the OMAP platform is its integration with local climate monitoring systems, allowing users to view weather and climatic conditions. Users can also access soil investigation data for sites in the Special Economic Zone at Duqm, which serves as a testing ground for AI and future technologies. The platform was introduced in September 2023 as part of Opaz’s efforts to improve services for investors by streamlining procedures, cutting down on time and effort, preventing plan overlaps, and offering opportunities to all investors and beneficiaries.

By providing intricate interactive maps of areas under Opaz’s supervision, the OMAP platform ensures easy access to precise and comprehensive spatial data. It helps identify available areas for investment and other economic activities, making it a valuable tool for investors and beneficiaries. The platform’s wide range of functionalities and user-friendly features make it a valuable resource for individuals looking to explore investment opportunities within special economic zones, free zones, and industrial cities managed by Opaz.
