A delegation from the Public Authority for Special Economic Zones and Free Zones (Opaz) recently visited Beijing in order to attract Chinese investments in Oman. The delegation, headed by Eng. Ahmed Hassan Al Dheeb, held meetings with Chinese businesspeople from various sectors, such as green industries, iron, technology, modern information technology, and chemicals. The aim of the meetings was to showcase the investment opportunities available in Oman’s special economic zones, free zones, and industrial cities, as well as highlight the country’s infrastructure and incentives for investors.
The meetings in Beijing were attended by Nasser Mohammed Al Busaidi, Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman to the People’s Republic of China. In addition to the bilateral meetings, the delegation also participated in the Omani-Chinese Investment Forum organized by the Embassy of Oman in China. The forum provided an opportunity to introduce the investment environment in Oman, and included visits to specialized Chinese companies and factories to learn about their experiences in relevant fields.
Opaz’s visit to Beijing is a part of their broader strategy to strengthen economic cooperation, attract international investment, create new strategic partnerships, and share technology, expertise, and experiences with other countries. The delegation included representatives from the Special Economic Zone at Duqm (Sezad), the Public Establishment for Industrial Estates (Madayn), and the “Invest Oman” lounge. By engaging with Chinese businesses and showcasing the potential for investment in Oman, Opaz hopes to drive quality investments into the country and contribute to its economic growth.
The delegation’s efforts to attract Chinese investments in Oman align with the country’s vision to diversify its economy and reduce its reliance on oil revenues. By promoting investment in sectors such as green industries, technology, and chemicals, Oman aims to foster innovation, create job opportunities, and enhance economic development. The focus on attracting investments from Chinese companies underscores the growing economic ties between Oman and China, and reflects the mutual interest in expanding bilateral trade and investment relations.
Overall, the meetings held by the Opaz delegation in Beijing mark a significant step towards strengthening economic cooperation between Oman and China. By presenting investment opportunities in Oman’s special economic zones and industrial cities, the delegation highlighted the country’s potential as an attractive destination for international investors. Through these efforts, Opaz aims to drive economic growth, attract quality investments, and create new strategic partnerships that will benefit both Oman and its international partners.
