Oman’s natural gas production and imports rise by 5.5%

The Sultanate of Oman has seen a significant increase in the total production and imports of natural gas, reaching 32.60 billion cubic meters by the end of July 2024. This marks a 5.5 percent increase compared to the same period last year, which stood at 30.91 billion cubic meters. Industrial projects accounted for 63.6 percent of natural gas usage in Oman during this period, totaling 20.74 billion cubic meters. Other sectors that utilized natural gas included oil fields, power generation stations, and industrial areas.

The statistics, issued by the National Centre for Statistics and Information, also indicated that non-associated production of natural gas, including imports, amounted to 26.33 billion cubic meters, with associated production totaling 6.57 billion cubic meters. These numbers reflect the growing demand for natural gas in Oman, which is being utilized across various sectors to fuel industrial processes, power generation, and other activities. The country’s reliance on natural gas is evident in the significant volumes being produced and imported to meet the needs of its expanding economy.
