The Sultanate of Oman has seen a significant increase in the total production and imports of natural gas, reaching 32.60 billion cubic meters by the end of July 2024. This marks a 5.5 percent increase compared to the same period last year, which stood at 30.91 billion cubic meters. Industrial projects accounted for 63.6 percent of natural gas usage in Oman during this period, totaling 20.74 billion cubic meters. Other sectors that utilized natural gas included oil fields, power generation stations, and industrial areas.

The statistics, issued by the National Centre for Statistics and Information, also indicated that non-associated production of natural gas, including imports, amounted to 26.33 billion cubic meters, with associated production totaling 6.57 billion cubic meters. These numbers reflect the growing demand for natural gas in Oman, which is being utilized across various sectors to fuel industrial processes, power generation, and other activities. The country’s reliance on natural gas is evident in the significant volumes being produced and imported to meet the needs of its expanding economy.

With industrial projects playing a prominent role in natural gas consumption, it is clear that Oman’s manufacturing and production sectors are driving the demand for this essential resource. The use of natural gas in oil fields, power generation stations, and industrial areas further underscores its importance in sustaining key economic activities in the country. As Oman continues to develop and diversify its economy, the demand for natural gas is expected to increase, highlighting the need for continued investment in production and infrastructure to support this growth.

The data presented by the National Centre for Statistics and Information paint a picture of Oman’s evolving energy landscape, with natural gas playing a critical role in meeting the country’s growing energy needs. The statistics reveal a steady increase in the production and importation of natural gas, indicating the importance of this resource in supporting Oman’s industrial and economic growth. As the country continues to invest in energy infrastructure and explore new opportunities in the sector, natural gas is expected to remain a key component of its energy mix.

In conclusion, the statistics on natural gas production and imports in Oman highlight the significance of this resource in fueling the country’s industrial and economic activities. With a growing demand for natural gas across various sectors, including industrial projects, oil fields, and power generation stations, it is clear that Oman’s reliance on this resource will only continue to increase in the coming years. As the country seeks to diversify its economy and expand its energy capabilities, investing in natural gas production and infrastructure will be essential to meeting the growing demand for this vital resource.
