Larsen & Toubro’s Power Transmission & Distribution vertical has secured new orders in the Middle East, particularly in Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, to expand and strengthen electricity grids at high voltage levels. In Saudi Arabia, L&T is working on connecting different regions in the national electricity network through High Voltage Direct Current links and has secured orders for ±500kV HVDC Transmission Links, two 380kV overhead transmission lines, and a 380kV Gas Insulated Substation. These projects will enhance system resilience and fortify the grid, as well as contribute significantly to renewable generation interconnection.

In the United Arab Emirates, L&T has received an order to build two major 400kV Gas Insulated Substations in Abu Dhabi. The scope of work includes civil works, Series Current Limiting Reactors, Auto Transformers, control, protection, substation monitoring & alarm systems, fault and power quality monitoring, telecommunication systems, and integration with the Load Dispatch Centre. These substations will enhance the power transfer capacity of the electricity grid in the region.

T. Madhava Das, Whole-Time Director & Senior Executive Vice President (Utilities) at Larsen & Toubro, emphasized the importance of fortifying and modernizing transmission systems to establish a secure and resilient grid capable of handling variable renewable generation in an evolving energy market. He expressed gratitude to customers for entrusting these projects to L&T. The company’s expertise and experience in the Power Transmission & Distribution sector make them a trusted partner for governments and utilities in the Middle East.

Larsen & Toubro’s track record in delivering high-quality projects and their commitment to innovation and sustainability position them as a leading player in the Power Transmission & Distribution sector in the Middle East. By investing in expanding and strengthening electricity grids at high voltage levels, L&T is contributing to the growth and development of the region’s energy infrastructure. The projects in Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates are key steps towards establishing a secure and resilient grid capable of meeting the increasing demand for electricity.

The increased focus on renewable energy sources and the need for a more efficient and reliable electricity grid have led to a growing demand for innovative solutions in the Power Transmission & Distribution sector. Larsen & Toubro’s expertise in designing, constructing, and commissioning complex projects makes them a preferred partner for utilities and governments seeking to enhance their electricity infrastructure. The company’s commitment to sustainability and safety ensures that projects are completed on time and within budget, while meeting the highest quality standards.
