Defence Minister Rajnath Singh recently spoke at the ‘Manorama News Conclave 2024’ in Thiruvananthapuram, where he highlighted the significant improvements in the Indian economy over the past few years. He mentioned that India has now become the fifth largest economy in the world, moving up from the 11th position over the past decade. Citing Morgan Stanley estimates, the Minister projected that India is poised to become the third-largest economy by 2027. In addition to economic developments, Singh also shed light on India’s manufacturing capabilities. He noted that India has become the second-largest manufacturer of mobile phones globally, with mobile phone production increasing fivefold in the last decade. The Minister also mentioned that around 2 lakh Gram Panchayats in India have been connected with optical fiber, showcasing the government’s efforts to enhance digital infrastructure across the country.
