Salik Company PJSC, Dubai’s toll gate operator, reported a revenue of Dh562 million in the first quarter of 2024, marking an 8.1% increase from the same period last year. This growth was driven by 122.8 million cars passing through the eight toll gates in Dubai. The Al Maktoum Bridge gate saw a significant increase of 49.0% in revenue-generating trips, while the Al Garhoud Bridge also saw a growth of 9.1% in revenue-generating trips.

In addition to the growth at the Al Maktoum and Al Garhoud Bridges, Salik reported a 5.3% increase in revenue-generating trips across all gates in the first quarter. Jebel Ali gate experienced double-digit growth of around 12%, while other gates like the Airport Tunnel and Al Mamzar North saw growth in the high single-digit range of around 8%. This strong growth across various gates indicates a positive performance for Salik in the first quarter of 2024.

The ongoing closure of the nearby Floating Bridge played a significant role in the increased revenue at the Al Maktoum Bridge gate, as traffic was diverted through this toll gate. This diversion of traffic highlights the importance of strategic planning and infrastructure management in optimizing revenue generation for toll gate operators like Salik in Dubai. It also underscores the need for adaptive strategies to accommodate changes in traffic patterns and infrastructure projects in the city.

As the exclusive toll gate operator in Dubai, Salik plays a crucial role in managing and maintaining the city’s tolling infrastructure. With the increasing number of cars passing through the toll gates, Salik has seen steady revenue growth over the years. The company’s ability to adapt to changing traffic conditions and infrastructure projects demonstrates its resilience and ability to capitalize on opportunities for growth in the tolling sector.
