Becton, Dickinson, and Company (BD), a global medical technology company, has announced a strategic partnership with the Infusion Nurses Society (INS) to improve infusion care practices in hospitals in the MENAT region. The goal of this collaboration is to enhance patient safety and healthcare quality by implementing standardized infusion therapy practices. Healthcare-associated infections (HAIs) are a significant concern, affecting a large percentage of hospitalized patients. By establishing rigorous standards of practice and providing targeted training programs for healthcare professionals, BD and INS aim to reduce these risks and improve patient outcomes.

Maher Elhassan, Vice President and General Manager of BD Middle East, North Africa, and Turkey, expressed excitement about the partnership with INS and emphasized BD’s dedication to patient safety and quality care. By equipping healthcare providers with best-in-class standards and innovative solutions, the collaboration aims to create a healthcare ecosystem in the MENAT region that prioritizes safety, efficiency, and excellence. The initiative will involve Vascular Access Management (VAM) assessments, tailored training, and educational initiatives to establish Centres of Excellence in hospitals across the region.

The INS, with over five decades of experience in promoting infusion therapy standards, is committed to providing resources and learning opportunities for healthcare professionals. Chris Hunt, Chief Executive Officer of the Infusion Nurses Society, believes that partnering with BD will help advance infusion care standards in the MENAT region. Together, the organizations will empower healthcare professionals with the expertise and resources needed to deliver safe, effective, and patient-centered care. Hospitals participating in the program will receive a comprehensive assessment of their current practices and a detailed plan of action to align with INS Infusion Therapy Standards of Practice and ethics.

The program will also include clinical simulations and competency validations to ensure that healthcare professionals are equipped with the latest knowledge and skills in infusion therapy. By partnering with INS, BD is demonstrating its commitment to improving healthcare practices in the MENAT region and fostering a culture of safety and excellence. The collaboration between BD and INS is a significant step forward in advancing infusion care practices and reducing healthcare-associated risks in the MENAT region.
