OQ, a global energy group, is set to showcase its digital transformation journey at the upcoming 33rd Comex Global Technology Show in Muscat. The event, scheduled from May 27-30, will feature OQ’s advancements in utilizing Fourth Industrial Revolution technologies to enhance competitiveness and sustainability across the energy value chain. The company’s commitment to driving digital transformation in the energy sector aligns with Oman Vision 2040’s e-government initiatives, aiming to localize advanced technologies, foster SME growth, and boost national technical capabilities.

Maryam bint Ahmed Al Shaibani, Vice President of Integrated Digital Solutions at OQ, outlined the company’s digital transformation strategy for driving growth, innovation, and sustainability through advanced technologies. Some of their key achievements in 2023 include the establishment of the ‘Digital Factory’ initiative, which focuses on storing data within Oman, creating cloud-based infrastructure, and developing digital roadmaps for subsidiary integration. OQ has also implemented AI, RPA, and AI-based HSSE monitoring, with plans to expand AI video analytics projects, predictive maintenance solutions, and generative AI applications in legal and operational areas in 2024.

OQ has taken steps to integrate modern technologies into their operations, with projects like digital warehouses, AI applications for predictive maintenance, and automation of technical processes in factories, facilities, and refineries. These initiatives aim to enhance work accuracy, technical reporting, and 24/7 operations by using machines to perform daily tasks. Additionally, OQ has launched the SAP Concur platform, enabling employees to complete logistical procedures via electronic platforms and mobile phones for travel and expense management, becoming the first entity in Oman to do so.

Looking ahead, OQ plans to sign a service contract for Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) or drone-based services utilizing AI and image analysis to mitigate HSSE risks, increase flexibility and productivity, and address challenges in digital transformation. By forming partnerships with leading global institutions and localizing advanced technologies in Oman, OQ is bolstering its commitment to driving digital transformation in the energy sector. These efforts are aimed at supporting Oman Vision 2040’s initiatives and contributing to the growth of SMEs and national technical capabilities.

At the Comex Global Technology Show, OQ will highlight its 2023 achievements and showcase innovations that enhance competitiveness and sustainability through the utilization of Fourth Industrial Revolution technologies. With a focus on advanced digital solutions across the energy value chain and plans to integrate cutting-edge technologies into their facilities, OQ is set to demonstrate its commitment to driving digital transformation in the energy sector. Through the implementation of AI, RPA, and AI-based HSSE monitoring, OQ is paving the way for a more sustainable and competitive future through digital innovation.
