As the Pakistan economy continues to struggle, the government has turned to heavy taxation as a means of generating revenue. This has put a significant burden on small and medium-sized businesses, especially those in the mobile market industry. The recent increase in taxes on mobile phones and tech-related peripherals has had a detrimental effect on mobile dealers across the country, leading to a decrease in sales and income.

One such dealer, Khurram from Karachi, expressed his concerns about the sudden rise in prices of mobile phones and accessories due to the increased taxes. He highlighted the fact that the investments made by small dealers are now at risk, as customers are unable to afford the higher prices. Khurram called on the government to reconsider these taxes, as they are making it difficult for businesses to stay afloat.

Basat Ali, another dealer, pointed out the impact of these taxes on the affordability of mobile phones for the average consumer. He noted that even mid-range phones have seen a significant price increase, making it challenging for customers to make a purchase. This has resulted in a decline in sales and profit margins for small dealers, who are struggling to cope with the financial strain.

The situation has become even more dire for mobile dealers as they face a combination of reduced sales and high taxes, leaving them with little to no profit margin. Many customers, especially those from lower-income backgrounds, are unable to afford the newly priced phones, further contributing to the decline in sales. The dealers are calling on the government to reconsider these taxes in order to save their businesses from financial ruin.

It is clear that the heavy taxation on mobile phones and tech peripherals is having a cascading effect on small and medium-sized businesses in Pakistan. The increase in prices has made it difficult for consumers to make purchases, resulting in a decline in sales for mobile dealers. Unless the government takes action to alleviate this tax burden, many businesses in the mobile market industry may face closure, further deepening the economic crisis in the country. It is crucial for policymakers to reevaluate these taxes and consider the impact on businesses and consumers in order to restore stability to the market.
