The Sultanate of Oman recently participated in the Oman-Spain Business Forum, held in Madrid, which aimed to enhance bilateral relations between the two countries through trade and investment exchange. The event, hosted by the Spanish Chamber of Commerce, saw the delegation from Oman, led by Eng. Hussain Hassan Abdul Hussain of the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI), highlighting various Omani companies and discussing opportunities in the Spanish market.

Jaime Montalvo, International Director of the Spanish Chamber of Commerce, emphasized the significance of the forum in fostering communication and establishing trade partnerships between businessmen in Oman and Spain. Eng. Hussain Hassan Abdul Hussain noted that the visit aimed to support the expansion of the private sector in Oman, explore commercial opportunities in Spain, and establish trade partnerships between Omani and Spanish companies. The OCCI’s participation in the forum included a specialized trade delegation focusing on food security, health, and industry.

Mohammed Al Lawati from the Ministry of Commerce, Industry, and Investment Promotion presented a working paper on the investment environment in Oman and highlighted the available opportunities for Spanish investors. The Spanish representatives, including officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Commerce, shared their efforts to enhance economic diplomacy and commercial activity in the Middle East. The Spanish Chamber of Commerce also discussed commercial opportunities in Spain and the mechanism of work of chambers of commerce in the kingdom.

The forum showcased Omani companies participating in the delegation and their interests in exploring commercial opportunities in the Spanish market. Various bilateral meetings were organized between Spanish companies, institutions, and the Omani delegation members to discuss potential investment ventures in both countries’ private sectors. The forum facilitated an exchange of expertise and experiences between private sector institutions in Oman and Spain, with the aim of increasing trade exchange in various economic sectors.

Overall, the Oman-Spain Business Forum in Madrid served as a platform for enhancing bilateral relations, exploring investment opportunities, and fostering trade partnerships between Oman and Spain. The engagement between the private sectors of both countries, backed by government institutions, is poised to create new horizons for economic cooperation. The commitment to effective communication and collaboration signals a promising future for mutually beneficial ventures, as both nations strive to leverage their strengths and potentials in the global market.
