Sharjah is preparing for extensive New Year’s Eve celebrations in 2025, promising spectacular fireworks displays and diverse entertainment options for residents and visitors. Public festivities will be held at three prime locations – Al Majaz Waterfront, Al Heera Beach, and Khorfakkan Beach – beginning at 8 pm on December 31st. These celebrations, alongside unique experiences like island dining and desert camping, aim to establish Sharjah as a leading destination for welcoming the new year.

Sharjah’s Grand New Year’s Eve Fireworks Display

The cornerstone of the Sharjah New Year’s Eve program is a series of ten-minute fireworks displays synchronized with entertainment at three waterfront locations. Al Majaz Waterfront will feature a choreographed fountain show alongside the pyrotechnics and dining at over 20 establishments. Al Heera Beach, extending 3.5 km along the coastline, will offer family-friendly festivities and access to 18 restaurants and cafés. Meanwhile, Khorfakkan Beach presents a unique backdrop with mountains meeting the sea, and is complemented by 22 seafront dining options.

Location Highlights

Each location caters to different preferences. Al Majaz offers a vibrant, central atmosphere, while Al Heera provides more space for family activities. Khorfakkan Beach’s unique scenery attracts those seeking a more picturesque experience. According to event organizers, all public celebrations are free to attend.

Exclusive New Year’s Eve Packages

Beyond the free public events, Sharjah is offering several premium experiences for those seeking a more intimate celebration. Al Noor Island is hosting an exclusive beachside dinner featuring views of the Al Majaz fireworks, accompanied by a guided stargazing session. This ticketed event is priced at Dh340 for adults (13+) and Dh150 for children (3-12), with limited capacity of 30 tables, accommodating up to 120 guests.

For those wishing to experience the fireworks from a unique perspective, Sharjah Boats is offering private 45-minute cruises on Khalid Lagoon. Departing at 11:30 pm from Al Majaz Waterfront, each boat can accommodate up to 10 passengers, and 12 boats are available for booking. Reservations, which are being taken on a first-come, first-served basis, can be made by calling +971 6 525 5200. These cruises represent an alternative way to view the fireworks and enjoy the festive atmosphere.

Desert Celebration: New Year’s Under the Stars

Shifting away from the coastal offerings, Mleiha National Park will host “New Year’s Under the Stars,” a desert camping experience. The overnight event runs from December 31st to January 1st and is priced at Dh550 for adults (11+), Dh390 for children (5-10), with complimentary access for those under 5. The package includes tents, sleeping bags, air mattresses, shared facilities, dinner, and breakfast.

Attendees can partake in activities such as camel rides, archery, fossil discovery, traditional Tanoura and fire performances and live oud music. A one-hour stargazing session will also be provided, capitalizing on Mleiha’s reputation for dark skies. Advance online booking is required due to limited spaces, reflecting the growing popularity of desert tourism in the region. This event offers a culturally rich and adventurous way to ring in the new year.

The Sharjah Investment Office has been actively promoting tourism within the emirate and events such as these serve to boost the local economy. Increased visitor numbers during peak seasons, like New Year’s, contribute significantly to revenue from hospitality, retail and entertainment sectors.

Organizers emphasize that safety is a top priority across all venues, with security personnel and medical teams deployed to ensure a smooth and secure experience for all attendees. Traffic management plans are also in place to accommodate the expected influx of visitors to the celebration areas. Considering potential congestion, authorities are encouraging public transportation use where available.

Looking ahead, the success of this year’s New Year’s celebrations will likely influence planning for future events. Further details on event logistics and any potential adjustments will be announced by the Sharjah Government in the coming months. Monitoring booking trends for the premium packages and assessing visitor feedback will be crucial for optimizing future New Year’s Eve programs and solidifying Sharjah’s position as a preferred destination for holiday events. The focus on both free, accessible events and upscale experiences demonstrates a strategy to cater to a broad audience.
